A live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie at Paramount already sounded like a bad idea. But having Lorenzo di Bonaventura attached as producer just sent my expectations deeper than the Cynosure bunker. #Cyberpunk2077 #Paramount #Cyberpunk #PhantomLiberty #MovieNews

I tend to catch myself looking up critic scores to decide on a movie for everything, as inaccurate as they are, but then I realize I spent most of my childhood watching some of the lowest rated films in history including; master of disguise, the live action cat in the hat, hoodwinked 1 and 2, etc.
The Nightmare on Elm Street remake is at its best when it is bringing elements of its own to the film. Whenever they literally remake scenes and sequences from the original film they always come off as much worse than the original, especially when using CGI instead of practical effects. There ARE parts of it in this rewatch I do like, but it just doesn't do anything from the original as well as the original. #horror #horrormovies #horrormovie #movie #movies #films #cinema
I saw The History of Concrete and enjoyed it but have a niche gripe. Josh Safdie was a producer, and I would assume, the key to cameos by Chalamet and Kim Kardashian. But why not link up with your great uncle who designed one of the most famous concrete buildings in the world??
There's going to be an Incredibles 3 movie in 2028. Don't fuck this up Pixar. your movies of late have been garbage with very few decent ones over the last 6yrs.
Its weird watching old direct to vhs cartoons I saw as a kid and discovering they were actually kinda good?? Mostly cuz the voice talent was legit. For some reason the Potato Head Kids is etched on my soul. The goofy on the nose vibes of everything is pretty funny in retrospect.
Normal Again s06e17 is the only Buffy episode I absolutely do not like. The only logical way to interpret it is Buffy's in a hospital. Last scene was just her parents, and didn't involve Buffy, so... The writers kind of do what they want to tell a story, so they have plausible deniability, but even my imagination can't overcome that writing. A girl that kicks ass is cool. A crazy girl in a hospital is just sad. I want there to be a Buffy out there. #btvs
Movie flopped before it ever released in my region Anyway, preorder and pre ticket sales makes stuff like this important for studios. If your movie needs word of mouth, it has already failed by most exec standards. They want to make a profit before ever releasing their product. The USA, everyone.
#tv #lanterns #dc LANTERNS is a very shit series! Even by modern streaming standards! This review of it, however, is rather good! " WRITER 2: How frequently should the batteries run out? PRODUCER: Whenever something interesting might happen. WRITER 1: What about the thousands of alien Lanterns protecting different sectors of the universe. PRODUCER: Thousands? Good heavens. Can we replace them with two guys talking in a room? " imdb.com/title/tt26545992/revi…
I don't even particularly like the new Carrie adaptation, but I can't take the complaint that the character and her primary bully look too similar seriously when that might be one of the more effective ways to communicate the cruel, arbitrary nature of bullying.

Had an interesting experience with this type of jokers before. I went to the 40th anniversary re-release of E.T. & there was a pair of irony-poisoned teens behind me that were laughing at anything that looked old. The movie ended up defeating their irony & they were openly sobbing at the end.
I tried watching the original “Conan The Barbarian” film today for the first time. I got about halfway through so far. Serious question: is there a point where it starts to get good?
I always liked how regular show is just populated by wildly different non-human sapient beings and they never really make a big deal of it. Like yeah there's humans but also you'll meet a walking gum machine and a yeti wearing pants and it's perfectly normal
Seriously, personal space is SO valuable. In this episode we cringe our way through a bromance gone wrong in FRIENDSHIP (2024, D. Andrew DeYoung) Here's our discussion. #YabtM 🎥 #film #movies #CineMastodon #monly youtube.com/watch?v=Z1kU1w0VEf8
Again thinking about why The Room and Plan 9 have ironic appeal while your Asylum movies & Bruce Willis geezer teasers don't, and how it's because the former films were made by narcisssists who thought they were making the next Citizen Kane, while the latter is just assembly line gig work.

Also personally speaking I think that mixed media element of the new movie helps it stand out. Like a live action action movie with practical martial arts fights, game accurate costumes, AND 2D animated flash back sequences sounds very daring from the usual fair we get with 2020's VG movies.
Trailer of Frank and Percy. *ing Ian McKellen and Roger Allam. U.K. premiere on Oct 13. "When Frank, a kind-hearted widower, and Percy, a witty and flamboyant bachelor, cross paths while walking their beloved dogs on Hampstead Heath, a casual chat about the weather and bad hips slowly gives way to something deeper. As their friendship blossoms into an unexpected romance, they must decide whether to take a chance on love and find the courage to embrace a new beginning." youtube.com/watch?v=TD53yGurQsw
I would describe Knights of Guinevere as "unapologetically pulpy" & that's a good thing imo! Scavengers Reign & Common Side Effects are good sci-fi animation installments but they also feel a little too quietly mature for their own good sometimes. I like camp, I like doing stuff jus cuz it's cool.
To be fair, we just watched It's Alive 3, so this won't be a shock in any case. Have you seen that one? That movie is bananas in a way that only a later Larry Cohen movie can be.
Midnight Mass was the most Stephen King style story I’ve ever seen and it’s an original story by Flanagan.
I really like the *feel* of the new Avatar series, feels completely distinct from both Last Airbender and Korra, love the aesthetic, love the new concept, the score is especially good.
Man Utd v Spurs was a very English sitcom style of comedy: plenty for the viewer to laugh at, yet built on the feeling that the characters lead very sad, depressing lives. A bit like Open All Hours or Men Behaving Badly.

It took me a long time to realize that Paul Rudd was doing a Donald Pleasence impression in this movie and that's honestly kind of brilliant! It's the kind of decision that proves WHY he was able to have a career after this movie! #Halloween
They're doing another season of Ahsoka? Nooo, they restored balance to the lore with the first one /o\ #starwars (I guess it's the best property they have besides Mandalorian since they wrapped up Andor. So they're probably using it to build something new?)
Evil Dead Burn makes me miss Bruce Campbell and the humor this series used to have. Somewhat predictable, with good tension. Evil Dead without laughs feels conventional, while Sinners, Weapons, Backrooms, and even the Resident Evil reboot elevate the horror genre for me. #film #horror #evilDead

Between this and Forgotten Island I feel like a lot of animation fans care more about complaining about Disney than they do about actually supporting animated films.
Lawrence's "I have *no* idea what you're talking about" face to the judges is very entertaining. #strictly
A big issue I've always had with Parts 7-9 of JoJo is that I had a very hard time following fights through the manga since i think their abilities got more abstract so I'm watching Mountain Tim do anything in the anime and holy shit Oh Lonesome Me kinda kicks ass when I can see it in motion
"Is this the Bad Place?", Twilight Zone style. youtube.com/watch?v=FcxfuUVOvZU
Ok I loved this tv adaptation of Carrie up until the last episode. The finale felt cheap with all the cuts between the prom scene and the witches being added to the storyline. Lost major points for me. The girl who played Carrie was phenomenal though and I want to see her in more roles.

Finally watched 28 years later and the bone temple back to back. Let me preface this by saying I am a big fan of 28 days later. I was also quite disappointed by 28 weeks later. So it’s taken me a while to circle around to these two movies. There were a couple of times when I almost shut off 28YL

I’ve never really been a big movie person, I’ve always just enjoyed rewatching my same collection of comfort movies again & again, and instead experiencing new stories through games or books. but I’ve started to get more into watching films recently and I’ve really been enjoying my new discoveries!
While STUDIO 60 was a terrible show, it contained a funny line I think about a lot, where one character derided filming in Vancouver because it looks like “Boston, California,” and every time I watch a show and think “why does this look weird” it turns out it was shot in Vancouver

Ready or Not (2019, d. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) was a pitch perfect horror comedy, and a nice spin on the rich hunting the poor for sport subgenre. I was cackling throughout. The cast was great, in particular Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, and Andie […] [Original post on dice.camp]

This is absolutely me missing the forest for the trees, but Freddy Krueger wasn't a pedophile in the original films and they added it for the 2010s remake, which was a hugely negative change that most people didn't like. Sorry. Don't look at me
Knights of Guinevere ep 2 lets us see what The Owl House could have been if Dana Terrace didn't have to fight Disney's S&P on every scene. Suburban Moms: "Animation is for kids!" Dana: "Are you sure about that?" Suburban Moms: "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHAT IS THIS!?"
I think people have this version of ATLA built up in their minds to where no sequel, no matter how perfect or flawed, is ever going to live up to its legacy Seven Havens, while theres obviously weaker animation, is honestly p solid imo and im excited to see where it goes!
Coyote vs Acme is excellent, I can't believe it almost didn't get released
I know people have been split on the fourth season of Ted Lasso but I loved it. It is smart, funny, heartfelt and a love letter to the power of family, found and otherwise. It made me very happy and reassured me there’s still good in the world and honestly I need that right now ❤️
Saw "Other Mommy" last night and I enjoyed it. I liked that they got right into it with no preamble. The dream logic and f/x were fun. Good cast and was I was happy to see Karen Allen. #Movies #Horror themoviedb.org/movie/1400837-o…
