I read the plaque after I posted this and immediately noticed the mention of an MVP in 1931. In 1931, Klein finished second in the BWAA MVP voting to winner Frankie Frisch. But it turns out that he DID win the MVP awarded by The Sporting News in 1931 (and 1932).

While a late-season surge boosted Northern Kentucky last year, losing 10 players in the off-season puts the Norse in a tough, but not impossible, spot to improve on that. Alex Perez has the preview. #HLWBB horizoneroundtable.com/2026/10…

  4. I looked up this stat because the film shows that Jalen consistently started with Wicks on his progressions Sunday even though he was usually plastered by Trent McDuffie--then play was dead before he could progress to backside. Including the biggest play of the game: 4th & goal.

I’m an absolute idiot and forgot my own newsletter today where i specifically said one team did force a game 5, Phoenix in the 2018 semis, because the fact that no one ever did it in the Finals has become an intrusive thought. Shouts to @sabreenajm.bsky.social for reminding me of 2018

The umpiring crew for Game 6 in 2004 that overruled two incredibly high-leverage calls to get them right without the benefit of replay in front of a hostile crowd has never gotten enough credit

  9. Five years ago tonight, I was at Game 2 of the NLDS in SF. A little old lady wanted to throw hands with me because of Adric. I made her feel both real bad and real dumb. Most of the fans left early, which shows a lack of character. Back when I thought spending $300 for a ticket was largesse.

  10. Often I find myself telling folks unfamiliar w/the WNBA that it's like if The Barbie Movie were real life. Because the players and staff are so talented, smart, beautiful and inspiring. I'm such a proud fan of this sport. Let's go Liberty!! Drinks on the house if Stewie gets 50 points tonight 🏀

Kasey Kahne coming back to NASCAR is exciting, was never a huge fan of his but now that he's an unretiring 46 year old in a series who really needs some more veteran drivers I'm rooting for him. His Truck record is great (5 wins, 6 starts, worst of 2nd) but he hasn't been in one for 11 years or full-time in NASCAR since pre-Covid so I'm not expecting the moon. But he was very competitive in the NOAPS race he ran last year and he's continued to sharpen his skills as a sprint car driver during his "retirement", so I think being a top 10 driver is a realistic expectation. I miss when much of the Truck series was aging veterans of Cup and NOAPS, so I'm into it. #NASCAR #motorsport #motorsports

One of my favorite aspects of the Timberwolves' 4-around-1 offensive setup is how interchangeable the positions have been. Those among the 4 perimeter players on the floor have spent time atop the key, in the slots, and the corners. No one camping in the corners extensively

  18. Rays winning a series -- at Yankee Stadium, no less -- in *those* jerseys is like Bucs winning a Super Bowl in the creamsicles, or if Sixers decided to break out the old shooting stars jerseys deep in the playoffs. You're talking about unis historically associated with failure.
