I love that nu-metal was basically "what if we take Rage Against the Machine but instead of being anti-capitalist and revolutionary it was about the appropriate extent to position your hands in the air. And butts"

A commercial that starts out with a woman saying “my first memory of food is my mom taking food away at 5 and obsessing over my weight. Since then, I’ve thought about my weight every day” I was so stoked for it to be about how she realized her mom was an asshole…nope! GLP-1s on Medicare commercial

Have you seen the Dr. pepper commercial where the refs were pulled into a police lineup? "It was him," cried the fan. The ref says "Cry me a river". When what he was really thinking was "I just made six grand". The #NFL has a gambling problem.

Look, go birds and Fly Eagles Fly and all those good things, sure. …but have we maybe considered playing with an offensive line that is any stronger than rice paper? I feel it could really help.

sonic mania mfs when sonic runs at 10 billion miles an hour so you never see any of the beautiful art and also there is a constant 24/7 assault on all of your senses good game though

If there's one thing I've learned from reality TV it's this; if your boss calls you into his office and fires you, you say thank you and in floods of tears you explain to the taxi driver why the boss was wrong

  8. It is funny reading the blurbs the spambot account creation requests have. "Tech necromancer, solo gamedev, Krita enjoyer, radical anarchist." Like that's exactly what a bio generated from the context of thousands of Fediverse users would say.

TFW you have your most powerful build so far (fists, great stacking status effects, solid cast) and arrive at Dad with 250/250 health and three death defiances... then it turns out that the 10th time you reach him he just lets you past. Fight, you coward!

  10. Lo and behold! Prusa Core One with INDX 'faceplants' with anything but Prusament filament. Who could have seen this coming from the company brought out the (not-actually-open) OpenPrintTag filament identification system? Why, also, does Prusa get the the "oh, but it will improve over time" leeway but every other printer gets a don't-judge-a-printer-on-what-it-could-be-but-what-it-is treatment? #3dPrinting youtube.com/watch?v=fbQjWMXGZ4k

Daredevil fans defending Karen getting pregnant despite her never having given signs of wanting a child 🤝 Star Wars fans defending Rey ending alone in a desert planet feeling like half of her is torn 🤝 ATLA stans defending Katara not getting a statue & becoming just a healer

aspen dental, urgent vet, mattress firm, all right next to each other in a brand new strip mall? you know that shit is all private equity and the real product is personal loans.

I was just wondering if another (trivial) consequence of AI would be that the name "Claude" would fall into despised disfavour (or become very popular for kids born from techbro sperm 🤮), and I found this: 'Claude is a French given name originating from the Latin name Claudius meaning "crippled" or "lame".' Seems somehow appropriate 🤪 #AI

  14. Sometimes you hear about a guy who fell down the AI rabbit hole and you're like "this is the least surprising thing I have ever heard" Actually it's not sometimes. It's pretty often

“You can’t use a password you have used previously” How do you know what passwords I’ve used previously? Because you’re not salting the hashes properly, or worse, not hashing the passwords, that’s how

"John Gruber is the smartest, handsomest, wittiest most intelligent man ever to put words to screen, but I don't know about this whole, 'return to X' thing. (Oh please John don't stop inviting me on your podcast!!!)"

When resilvering data on truenas, instead of a boring arrow loading animation they could do a little shovel furiously shoveling ones and zeros because that's what my mini PC has been doing for two hours now.

Thank goodness the Amber algo has finally decided to stop topping up at 25c to sell at 26c. They’re like that Tesla-driving boomer still on the EV charger long after the battery hit 100% waiting for “that last little bit.” Let it go, guys, we had a good day.

  19. My conclusion after a number of experiments is that the way to break past plateaus in your understanding is to do games that at a surface level are extremely silly but that are also physically demanding and also maybe cannibalism.

    Opinion
  20. Massive information leaks after abysmal megacorp decisions are so fascinating. Like watching a dead whale sink to the bottom of the ocean and have all the starved little creatures below pick apart what remains of the carcass to make good use of it.

  21. Oh wow. If Generative Ai and Crypto NFTs would've had taken off at the same time, they would have absolutely imploded each other... Here's a machine that makes shitty images valuable. Here's a machine that makes shitty images cheap. The shitty images on either side are being paid for with compute.

  22. AI slop pictures are interesting cause the creator is like "hahaha tricked you into thinking it was real but it was actually just a jape. It was AI generated! Humanity's combined scientific endeavours over millennia contributed to turning our planet's sand into microscopic silicon thinking machines potentially unprecedented within a large cosmic range, and now you have been tricked by this so I can have traffic to my website and get 10p in ads revenue"

Nope, you are not going to convinde me to watch SNL (*yawn*) again, by allowing Shane Gillis to host. That would not even make me want to hate-watch your irrelevant show.

  25. I always find it hilarious, when watching Dragongate’s English-language feed, that Ho Ho Lun is essentially the color commentator from Major League to Jae’s Uecker. Jae will call the entire match and Ho Ho will occasionally pipe in an “oh!!” or “wow!!” #Wrestlesky

Flubber (1997) is hilarious because this guy invented a sapient robot that can feel love, but he's somehow still concerned that he has no scientific legacy.

I have a theory: that football enables people, usually men, who never developed an emotional vocabulary (beyond rage) to feel things in the safety of a closed-loop system. And Man City have broken it.
