so I'm now on the target dose of the anti-seizure med my insurance requires me to try out before I can try the more expensive designer migraine meds yesterday I got a migraine, BUT my triptan was able to dispel it (which it hasn't been doing lately, hence the neurologist)

@autistics Some years ago I was hired for a project and came to work really close with one person. She and I got along and we would spend long days together focusing on our work but also connecting as people. After a few months she asked me if I was autistic. I said no, which I thought was an honest answer. I knew I am different but I am different in many ways. I knew I struggled in social situations but there was always another plausible reason (too). I knew I kept having to fight for things that no one else seemed bothered with.

For everything I could come up with an explanation that was not related to being neurodivergent. I had just never put the puzzle together and see the bigger picture. I tried to let her question go but it wouldn’t let me. Why would she think this about me? Eventually I started looking things up online and it was eye opening. I recognised so much and pretty much self-diagnosed right there and then. She saw something I didn’t and whether or not others may have no one had ever voiced it. Later I was formally diagnosed in two out of three countries (long story), but the one that didn’t is my home country where I lived at the time these questions arose. It was difficult to handle because they also couldn’t offer an alternative suggestion of what might be going on. It was all just my problem and for me to sort out on my own. That failure in support has caused some serious harm. There’s a reason why I write about this today but I’m not sure I’m ready to share that yet, so instead here’s a question for anyone who wants to answer: How did you discover you were autistic and how difficult has it been to find recognition and acknowledgement? This question particularly applies to those of us who recognised their neurodivergence in adulthood but I welcome everyone’s thoughts. #ActuallyAutistic
My lovely wife has been reading about OCD to try and understand my new diagnosis, and she told me i should read about it too, and i was like "I'm scared if i read about it I'll manage to somehow give myself symptoms i didn't already have" And she fucking put a hand on my shoulder and said, "babe... That fear is in here as an OCD symptom"
I used to be the person who could do 70k in a week and still feel like I could keep going. But then I got older, and sick, and I really struggled with my new limitations, until I realized I'm still putting out quality work, I'm just not breaking myself to do it. And that's fine.
Took a Covid test this morning (negative, fortunately) for the first time in a couple of years. It all felt very strange, and I had to read the instructions carefully. Odd to think what an integral part of our daily lives this was only a few years ago.
The reason I’ve been shaking like a tuning fork, why I can’t sleep, and my low grade fever can be explained now. My thyroid medication is out of whack for my new body size and I’m basically walking jitters. We are adjusting that and some other meds. No answer for the big scary symptoms yet.
My therapist says it's not “incontinence” if it only happens on his sofa. I explained it's actually a settee
It's been a lot of bitter work to get here, but my back is finally at the last stages of having my old injuries unfucked. It's been years of toil with stretching, muscle conditioning, kung fu, chiro/massage therapy, but I'm sooooo close to my Mr Incredible moment where the robot unkinked his back.
Oh I just notice that I can get my arm up better again. The pain is still there, but I can slowly move it better again! So the medicine is slowly showing its effect. Of course, I shouldn't overdo it and continue not to overwork until I've recovered more.
After one week of no alcohol: My sleeping is generally uninterrupted. Overall, I feel better. My stomach acid is way down. Less heartburn. The bank account likes it. So far, no withdrawal symptoms. I have no cravings for booze. My energy level is up. No hangxiety
I've been meaning to add a cardio day to my routine, and yesterday (tuesday) I finally did it. So, I'm devastated to report that, seemingly as a consequence, I slept better than usual, have more energy, and I seem to have fully recovered from quads day (monday) faster than usual. Bodies continue to be ridiculous, and make no damn sense.
Today I was reminded that it’s 13 years since my first DVT was diagnosed. It happened a few days earlier but the dr at legevakt thought the shortness of breath was anxiety. Not the only time a dr in the Oslo area has been less than stellar with me.
Hospital adventure is still going. We've been here since 8h. Now, I am waiting for the nurse who will show me where I need to go in the surgery day. Doctor understands English but is not comfortable with speaking. We we able to go through with the phone. Totally understandable and important, but a bit scary when he was talking about the possible bad outcomes.
Tracking my symptoms for just two weeks helped me spot a pattern I'd been missing for years. Turns out my worst flare days lined up with certain foods. Sometimes data reveals what intuition can't. #SymptomTracking #ChronicIllness #HealthTracking
Got my flu shot and a Covid booster. Ready now. Bring on Ol' Man Winter. 👍💉 #Vaccines #flu #Covid19
Last had the flu badly in 2012 or so. It hit me with every possible symptom. I had fever, chills, aches, nausea, sore throat, headache, runny nose, congestion, exhaustion, all at the same time. Knocked me down for a full week and it was two weeks before all symptoms stopped. I've gotten shot since.

i stopped taking sertraline because it would turn me into a will-less zombie i would still be me, but i could not do anything but watch youtube in silence, becase my brain was at such as state of boring bliss i finally knew how sheep feel i stopped taking it, and now i wonder, is that the "normal" state for me? a zombie? if so, is depression and anxiety my main drive for doing anything at all? all this shit is weird
I am one of those folks who was diagnosed with ADHD late. Mostly I ended up being diagnosed because the bigotry, creeping fascism and destruction of my rights put enough stress on my many fragile but unseen coping strategies that they started to break.
Got contacts for the first time in a few years and slept in them like a dumbass rather than letting my eyes get used to contacts before adding in the extra stress, so anyway, I look like I’ve got a mild case of Ebola at work today. That’s fun. Some slight pressure but no real pain; think I got them out before it got bad.
OK, my doctor read me for *filth* today and immediately asked if I'd ever been diagnosed with autism. I have no fucking clue how to think about that, (I mean, yes, I probably am autistic, but there's a reason I can joke about "trans, autistic or Polish?" being a valid question to ask in many social situations)
My arms still hurt from Saturday’s vaccinations and my cold, 2 weeks in and apparently on the way out, has just introduced a scratchy throat into the mix. Lovely. Still, a good 20 minutes @ 26 on the erg this evening and off out for a paddle with the race crew at 7am. Maybe a nap tomorrow afternoon, eh? 🚣🏿 💪 💉 🦠
Morning All! It's Thursday Yesterday: Dentist went OK, lunch out lovely. Weather nagged muscles all day but really bit later on Today: Food order due. Prob v little else: jabs Tues and busy Weds have left me v tired. Books due I think. Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. I received my post-surgery pathology results yesterday, and I’m now officially cancer-free! I still have a lot of treatment ahead of me, but this is a huge milestone! 💗🎗️ #BreastCancer #CancerFree #BreastCancerSurvivor
Very true. After 11 years, I still sometimes catch myself lamenting, that I "can no longer" do everything I did before burnout. Then, I remind myself, that I never should have done those things in the first place because they were part of the reason I ended up with a massive burnout.
I had to wake up super early today to see my girlfriend to the hospital to get face surgery, then come home for back to back meetings, and then I'll have to go right after for a visit to the hospital. What a day.
I have a routine appointment today. I’d planned to revoke permission to use the ai transcription- I’ve noticed weird inaccuracies that while not critical are concerning. On top of all the other AI woes. Now I’m just more depressed about medicine in this country. And I really LIKE my doctor. She’s great. But doing notes that way is insane. federate.social/@jik/117390087…
Today feels a little monumental. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago. This has been really really hard. It was really hard because I’ve been raw dogging menopause. Today I get to start taking some stuff to help with that.
I woke up this morning with a burst blood vessel in my eye and it doesn't hurt or anything but it looks so gnarly that I don't want anyone to have to look at it. (I wore glasses during tele-therapy because it hid it a little so I didn't have to look at it.)
Got stabbed in the arm for the second time this month and feeling smug about it. Also I think my immune system just made a DHCP request.
I'm so tired of doctors and lawyers and professionals generally assuming that disabled patients will have: - a printer - a desktop or laptop computer that works - ability to go places at will - ability to read dense writing on a dim or bright skin I have severe ME/CFS I'm not maintaining an office!
My biggest fear about getting old without having children, is not having anyone to advocate for me if I become unwell. I had to do this a lot, and HARD, for both my parents. It was always on my mind who might do this for me, if OH was not around to do so.

Not being able to fit in the MRI along with my ongoing liver issues is really causing my issues around food to flare up. Very easy to restrict till I can't stand it. But I'm going to do my best to feed my body even if all I have to eat is pasta
21 days later: The inflammation and sleep trouble caffeine causes me have been back for almost 2 weeks. But the theanine in tea might be behind my anxiety disappearing so ordered theanine pills to test after I quit caffeine again for the 100th time
It’s incredible how much lower my Xanax/gummy intake has been since moving. I would take one of each almost every day before. The last four days, I’ve taken one gummy and that’s it. My anxiety level is so much better.
And to bitch further, the tooth they pulled out seems to hurt. They inserted a bone graft that I have to be careful of for three months, but it feels weird to put my tongue there and I can’t chew on that side of my mouth still because I haven’t been chewing on it for years now. I wonder how much the post for the hurt.
Things have been quiet & stable with my husband since his last hospitalization in July for mania induced psychosis. He is so ADHD, but he can't take a stimulant in a manic state & has been off it for a while. His doctor started him on a low dose last week & it didn't go well. He started hearing
measuring this cough by how many packs of soothers I get through in a day, I'm down to half a packet, we might be through this soon
Looking at how rapid the flu is spreading (plus my parents are going to be visiting in a few weeks and they are old), got my #FluShot and #covid19 vaccine earlier today at CVS. It was quick, easy, and not that painful (although I'm sure the side effects kick in later, but it's worthwhile).
I got the covid booster shot yesterday, and holy shit — it has knocked me on my ass. I feel like absolute _crap_. I know it will pass, but... ugh.
5 year old is having sedation dentistry done and the amount of work is making me feel super terrible as a parent.
I'm a freak for ibuprofen but not in a substance abuse way
I cannot believe just how great Trans Tape has been working for me. I don't get as flat as I want, but it actually alleviates a lot of the pain I have in my ribs, which I wasn't expecting at all. I genuinely wish my insurance covered this stuff because this is actually just a disability aid atp
oh god… rotavirus has entered the chat please god please don’t let me get it too, i really really don’t want to experience that with a broken rib 🙏🏼
ngl crying is a banger feature of the human body. literally a built in mechanism for physically expelling our emotions. makes healing feel a lot more attainable. definitely kind of embarrassing though. had like three people stop me on the street yesterday asking if I was okay. no but I will be.
A virus was definitely not on my list of things to have this year but here we go. It’s been a while since I’ve been sick like that, it sucks.
me: god why do i feel so off today? i stayed home so i could catch up but i just feel so unmotivated and paralyzed my wellbutrin, sitting untaken & forgotten on the counter: haha wow that’s crazy i definitely have NOTHING to do with that!
Ow ow ow ow. Squished so tight. Ow. This concludes my ~10 hour post surgery status update.
Woke today and rather than push through that feeling, because gosh so is so much to do, I have decided to listen and simply report I don’t feel well. I ignore these signals so much but it takes a toll, it doesn’t get rewarded, and so it’s best to do the best thing for me. #selfcare
Update: 12 hours later and I’m experiencing pain in my wrist, shoulders, back, and hips. A driver going 5 mph or less did this! I can’t stop thinking how much worse this could have been if the driver hadn’t stopped, if they had been moving faster, or if the car was bigger. Cars are so dangerous!
My left wrist is kind of stiff today. No pain, though, which is good, just enough to remind me how life can change on a dime.
