How it works

  1. sylvain’s relationship with matthias is so integral to his character—being the ghost of your fathers former & happier self, seeing how all of his dreams and goals fell apart, how your father condemned himself to his failures… you struggle to love him but you cant hate him—all you can do is succeed

  2. More ruminations on my latest in progress game. This will be somewhat text heavy. I went in to refactor the text display, and am questioning all of it. I need a better way to handle when the main character is speaking and when another character is speaking. Currently I have 2 fonts and the text progresses by the letter. It just doesn't feel like it's enough. Would an indent help? Should I do character level progression? Would colors help. Bikeshedding...

  3. Zelda like guardians just attacked my D&D groups starting town that essentially was their main hub and they killed my character’s mother in process. Shit actually got to me the player for a moment because I’ve been with this group since 2019. God I love telling a story with others!

    Personal
  4. [ygo] remembering when some rando was accusing me of constantly pairing up against them on MD with puppetFTK and preventing them from ranking up and all i can think of is Dio's "do you remember how many slices of breads have you eaten in your lifetime"

  5. cant really speak on behalf of the newer monsters games because now the mechanics of recruiting monsters have changed but while yes you still fight monsters, the fact that in the early monsters series, enemy monsters have a CHOICE of joining you, its never forced, just encouraged through giving food

Currently playing Cyberpunk2077 out of a friend's Steam library and damn, the on foot controls in this game feel like parallel parking a delivery truck. The imprecise, chunky controls make me wish i was playing a real FPS or 3PS instead. Maybe i'm playing 2077 wrong tho

    Opinion
  7. By far the most popular and successful part of my OD&D campaign are the sessions where we don't play D&D at all, just run a Chainmail jousting tournament and Deadball baseball game This is an example of D&D being a well-designed game which effectively steers gameplay towards desired play outcomes

  8. May I ask: have any of you played with the deepseek harness? I’ve heard that it’s pretty good, I tried it one time and it seemed to be pretty accessible although I should probably try it again. What was cool was when I pressed the tab key it would give me a lot of verbose information about what I was highlighted on which I personally liked. Like it even told me how many tokens a turn used and stuff like what the heck?

    Question
  9. It's exhausting seeing game conversation this deep into 2026 where people so confidently talk as if Atari and THQ Nordic are 1980s Atari and regular THQ. If I change my name to John Wayne, I'm not the famous cowboy film star, I'm a different guy named John Wayne.

i said this once before but the deal with game writing is that it forces a lot of impact onto writing that means you cannot simply write a really good story, you have to write a story that converts well into the game's system. otherwise you are weakening your great story you have by gaming it

  11. Done for the night! Thanks for hanging out! The game manuals are mailed out 📬, I showed a bunch of Tokyo trip photos, added Nancy throwing a right elbow into DOS Double Dragon, and started playing Tantei Jingūji Saburō: Shinjuku Chūō Kōen Satsujin Jiken (1987)! Happy Crimson C'Tuesday, good night!

This is a very interesting video filled with in-editor footage and discussions on optimization, art direction, asset creation, game direction, and level design! And yes, Blender is there too!

    Recommendation
  13. Star Wars Galactic Racer tonight! This game is RIDICULOUS fun. Sadly, it's also really bad for my carpel tunnel, so there's a very real chance I'll have to cut it short for the evening and switch to another game. But I'm going to endure as long as I can first! #gaming #racer twitch.tv/GordMcLeod

The cool part is about everything is based on a physic model and can be destroyed when takes enough force. You can damage or blow up some tanks using anti personnel grenades if you land it in the right spot, like landing one on the engine is enough to destroy it. You can open holes in the walls with explosives, or demolish completely them, or set them at fire with the molotov (works on some tanks also when hit the engine). #pcgame #pcgames #menofwar #menofwar1

  15. I wanna fix up my dumb little mesh replacement mod for BG3 before I jump back into the game, but in the 1.5 years since I cobbled it together I have forgotten how I did any of it. I remember there was a lot of bs, a lot of moving parts and trying everything til it worked involved. I should've taken notes.

  16. But in all honesty, with pretty much everyone who worked on Skullgirls no longer being involved thanks to not getting paid by the publisher for their work, I'm placing the blame on the skullgirls art contest censorship fiasco on mobile distributors (and markets) need to be completely squeaky clean

  17. Like if you asked 100 game developers if we should have done things the way we did with respect to graphics handling most likely 100 of them would have said something like, "No! What the actual fuck? Why?" But you see the internals are a total nightmare and impossible to work with so who's to say? The results however are... wildly inconsistent... I wouldn't have it any other way.

danitha is a great entry point for pdh honestly. simple ask, simple reward, lots of player agency, the list goes ON. check the list we ended up with HERE, then peep the vod of the whole brewin process below in the reply moxfield.com/decks/VHEcYS...

Fave oldschool demo from deadline just run on a pc98! They really nailed the pc98 universe by starting with what would make for a good visual novel <3 pouet.net/prod.php?which=107066

  20. I heard the SF4 rollback mod was vibecoded. Wouldn't be surprised if FGC didn't pushback on it. Between that and all the decomps of various games, the rate at which these things are developing should be raising alarms. Software needs to be made with care, which takes time.

  21. Tonight while testing my snap joint system rework, I encountered another issue: When joints (dis)connect based on proximity, I use a "proposed transform", based on where the player points the object. Otherwise it would be impossible to sever a connection. Problem being: When moving multiple parts together that were already connected (but technically don't have to be), that detection function went completely nuts because proposed, interpolated and snapped transforms never matched as expected.

  22. Been finding myself enjoying the WoW Forever Beta; though I wish people would stop "slippery sloping" when you suggest that, perhaps, they could do with a few more flight paths/ graveyards, or making certain quests less "run for 10 minutes, talk to a person, now go back to the 1st person".

I think the new Castlevania demo looks really cool and competently made. I think the music is like a REALLY poor fit. it just drones on in the background without any sort of noticeable hook in a series known for some of the hook-iest music of all time

  25. This week we take on the recent smash hit roguelite city builder Combolands! A mashup of Balatro-style points generation with town building mechanics, Combolands offers a very nice and cozy experience while hitting that number-go-up dopamine rush grogpod.zone/2026-10-07-combol… #combolands #roguelite #cozy #gaming #steam #steamdeck #indiedev #indiegame #podcast #roguelike #balatro #luckbealandlord

We've decided to postpone the release of polymorphite's initial Early Access version to late Q1 2027, likely in March. The reasoning for this is that the content of the first story chapter is quite large and we need more time to make it as good as we can. Thank you for understanding.

  27. @RubberMagpie Also just noticed that if you change your keys so that prep or holding stations also happen to be keys for foods, the station will start and the food will also begin to prep. I.E. both actions on the same key happen at once in some scenarios. Not sure if this is a mod issue as much as the game itself but it still felt kinda weird

  28. Happy #WishlistWednesday! You should totally play this game about blasting enemy robots into piles of parts and then stealing them and rebuilding yourself with them. You can play our demo TOMORROW! store.steampowered.com/app/266… #videogame #gaming #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev #rustlang

Some days since I didn't update this, but we've got three attacks with a hitbox and a block animation. Next thing is adding a charge attack, then work in the parry mechanic. Then start working in the enemy AI. My end goal is to somehow create a evolutionary way to change enemies with each fight. Still thinking how I'd do this, but at first I'm thinking on modular attacks with some twinkable variables (timing, lenght and etc.)

  30. A whole lot of people acted like pattheflip was personally endangering his fellow devs when he wrote that blog about how he cared more about 2XKO being interesting than financially successful. I've noticed none of them apologized after Riot basically said "financial success" had never been an option

I'm at a crossroads with my project. there are two options - switch to wheeled cars. I think cars do have more appeal with players, but it would require a lot of additional work - double down on floating. more faithful to my initial vision for this project, and much simpler physics 🤔
