How it works

  1. I'm looking forward to new Knights of Guinevere episodes and want to see indie animation continue to thrive. What I'm not looking forward to is the inevitable bad faith discourse, hatedom, and toxic fandom that always happens with indie and animated shows.

I also rewatched the Knights of Guinevere pilot. Knowing the context that Dana was working on TOH Novel seemingly along side it, it especially feels even less a spiteful take that against Disney, and more about how what happens when we let a giant corporation gain more monopoly over everything.

  3. Tom Cruise is a piece of shit. I’m glad his career is nosediving now. It’s embarrassing how many of you lapped up his “top gun” return. 60 year old maverick… gtfoh.

  4. @mythicsnake.bsky.social

Exactly!!! I never understood the complaint from people who kept referring back to the original pilot as if that one single episode was some sort of marble chiseled template for the entire series. It is SO much better in its current form. If you don't like character drama & dick jokes, bye Felicia.

I really enjoyed it for the most part. Peter & Uncle Ben feel the most realistically written, and “power & responsibility” is reengineered in a clever not-too-cynical way. The gore is great too, Oscorp is literally Umbrella Corp lol My kinda minor but specifically glaring problem lies in Felicia.

Golden Girls. I love the furniture. The wallpaper and bed headboard in Sophia’s room are gorgeous. #TV

(Stephen Dorff didn't do a SA or something I haven't heard about, right? I was kinda confused by where he went... He easily could have made the "well he didn't work as a lead but he's got crazy high scumbag potential" transition like Dane DeHaan.)

OTHER MOMMY is the opposite of slow burn horror - it gets scary fast, and, mercifully, avoids the trope of having people not believe what we all saw them see with their own eyes. It's both fantastical & frightening, and grisly enough to warrant caution before recommending to the casual moviegoer.

👏 👏 👏 😀 🤣 😂 :pixelheart: :pixelheart: :pixelheart: Ted Lasso isn't just a television show. It's a special entertainment phenomenon that we may never see again. The writers, cast, and entire production team have given us an experience that brings us together and makes us feel good about life. And in this moment of history, that's a special blessing indeed. tv.apple.com/us/show/ted-lasso… #entertainment #television #sports #inspiration

the fun thing about this is Gallipoli (1981) dir. Peter Weir is a masterpiece, Braveheart (1995) dir. Mel Gibson is a well-made movie with genuine virtues, and The Patriot (2000) dir. Roland Emmerich is a piece of shiiiiiiiit and they’re each INCREASINGLY inaccurate about the British

Watch LOST Circle (ie, Chronological LOST) and I finally got to the actual plane crash. Love seeing the main cast and the tailies experience being intercut. There's a segment where Jack and Ana Lucia are both trying to give CPR to someone at the same time and they mirror each other so perfectly.

  12. I think they need to keep The Traitors as a Peacock-only show or have longer episodes. Because the pacing in the first 4 seasons was not this bad, and it wasn't as noticeable until now with them switching to singular episodes. #TheTraitorsUS

I want to win our Ozploitation episode, so I'm listening to Phillipe Mora's HOWLING III commentary but it's the kind of commentary where Mora attributes the movie getting made to its success on DVD, even though it was made 9 years before the first DVD was released. I know he meant VHS but STILL!

  14. We know the rare 20th Century Fox Archives logo? The one was a still graphic (drawn) render. What if it was an on-screen logo by Flip Your Lid, then Blue-Sky Studios, and later Picturemill in 20th Century Fox Archives to either 20th Century Studios Archives or 20th Century Archives? What would YOU pick? Crafted on ChatGPT & Gemini.

okay here’s the thing: I read the direction of the film as Iñarritu believing in people and hating the billionaires and political class because Birdman had this beautiful sincerity to it that makes me believe Iñarritu actually does love people, I just can’t read this as misanthropic

i like that they establish that the cult you get kidnapped by in hellraiser revival are bdsm sex maniacs but also very clearly establish that most of them don't even wanna do the weird cult shit and are just there for the bdsm part but in a way that doesn't like villainize any of it

  17. One thing I found amusing when I discovered the American dub of Thomas and Friends was you essentially get two stages of Ringo: 1. Alcoholic Ringo with his original UK lines 2. Post-rehab Ringo with his new Americanized dialogue

Godfather I, opening scenes: FBI men taking down plate numbers, Sonny causing a ruckus Godfather II, opening scenes: state trooper guarding the parking lot, liveried waiters bringing over a flute of champagne etc. Perfection of echoes and allusions PS Vote out the GOP. Save the republic.

  19. I finished the original Laughing Salesman and have moved onto the new series The og was great. Loved the creepy storytelling. The new series uses some crappy cgi at certain parts, but it has the juice so far (plus a bangin opening theme: Nope by Nakamura Eri)

  20. I love that Mike Flanagan openly loves working with the same people over and over. Makes each production feel like a troupe coming together to put on a show like John Carpenter’s run in the 80s.

We finally watched this season’s last two episodes of SNW. I’m happy La’an got some peace, although I couldn’t tell you for my life WTF that ship was or why it was. The finale was nice, but I’m a little tired of work as family metaphor. A crew is a crew; a crew is not a family

  22. With Adele Lim as showrunner. Such a vindication after the way she was treated over the movie sequel back in 2019. www.theguardian.com/film/2019/se...

I feel like a Flanagan fan fraud sometimes. I love Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, Doctor Sleep, and Life of Chuck. BUT every single time I start Hill House or Bly Manor, I legit get too freaked out and have to shut them off. The horror in that is real.

I literally rewatched this today and while some of the movie feels a little, uhhhhh, not to today's ideals, it's one of the most beautiful horror films ever and is STILL my favorite Dracula movie.

@wychstreet.bsky.social The Martin Mull doc on Netflix is wonderful. Conceived by Bob Saget. He worked on it for four years before he passed. Apatow finished and cut it. Mull is one of the more significant multi dimensional artists of his generation. So inspiring.

To anyone who was skeptical of Seven Havens, saying the animation looked bad, it's absolutely amazing As a lifelong ATLA and LOK fan, this show has me hooked!!

  27. I think the issue with bringing back Agents of Shield characters is that it had 135 episodes and ended over 6 years now, they went through a lot of status quo changes and if Marvel has issues people not watching a Disney+ show in the past year, how do get them care about this AoS

  28. To my delight, I've found out that my anti-capitalist bf has never seen Severance. So far his biggest source of rage (and believe me there's been a LOT of those - down to the melon) is that in Episode 2 the show is making him agree with RICKEN 😂😂😂 Watching him watch it is so much fun😁
