side of Julian in his silly graduation robes, but nonetheless a perfectly average older human couple, who each bore an obvious resemblance to Julian in their own way. They seemed nice, but Garak knew well that the worst people so often did. “It’s so nice to finally meet you, Garak,” said Amsha, greeting him with a warm hug. “Yes, I’m sure it is,” Garak replied. Julian was gripping his bicep so firmly he was sure it would leave a bruise. “I’ve heard so much about you.” “All good things, I hope!” Richard chuckled, patting him on the arm. Garak grinned, saying nothing. The last of the laugh died in the back of Richard’s throat. Garak’s smile persisted. “Yes, well, why don’t you both come in?” Amsha suggested, brute forcing through the tension in the air like taking a cricket bat to a veil of prickly hedgerow. “Take off your shoes, get comfortable. Julian knows we don’t stand on ceremony here, and I’m sure you must need a cup of tea.”
