How it works

  1. This is the first time I've heard of this concept, and the first example in the wiki article is freeways. I wonder if this is why young men, including myself, enjoy flashy sports cars. We spend half our lives driving at this point. It's a way to stand out and bring color into spaces full of nothing

#biketooter, any advice for getting tight tires to snap on the rim bead? I have just installed some Pirelli P-Zeros with TPU tubes and even after inflating to max (8bar) they haven't fully popped on the bead. :( Next step is to deflate and add some soapy water to decrease friction.

Coordinate-free is the way to be — as long as the space of coordinate choices is contractible. To wit: Lazard's theorem says that formal group laws (i.e. formal groups + coordinate choice) have moduli ring L = ℤ[x₁,x₂,…]. The moduli stack of formal groups, though, is not affine.

This is fascinating. The history of military clothing is so interesting because it inevitably filters into civilian wear and often becomes very cool (see most types of jackets - bomber, flight, biker, and t-shirts).

This can't be emphasized enough! If you're over 40, enroll in a freshman history class at a community College. Ask LOTS of awkward questions like "How were Japanese Americans treated during WWII?" Or, "What was the Tuskegee Experiment?", Or "What is The Trail of Tears and why did it happen?"

There's never enough Classics content here so let's talk about a couple of (as I tell my students) 'load-bearing culture words' in Latin and some of their cultural significance: beneficium: a favor, kindness, service officium: a duty, kindness, service & munus: a service, favor, obligation, gift.

I have seen complaints about there not being enough grad school AUs and i am going to hold your hand when i tell you many people don’t even get a bachelor’s degree. i think the universality of high school is what makes those AUs so popular.

  20. Cape Town Carnival. It was an interesting day walking around the Carnival. Not many White, as in race not colour here ha ha, about. Myself included saw 4 that were not policemen or security type . Blacks. I do not think many but cannot tell as some Coloureds are very "African". Not ANY violence that I saw and I spent the whole day. Lot of very drunk people but more happy than fight mode. This person was well worth a pic or two. #travel #socialmedia #Carnival #photography
