How it works

  1. Sentimental Value Wow, this was very good. In the genra of family drama / trauma. Their mother dies and their father comes back into their life's after leaving decades earlier. themoviedb.org/movie/1124566-a… #movies

"I Go Looney" from Batman: The Killing Joke Movie was garb, even so, Hamill really sold this number (and the entire movie tbh, along with Conroy of course). Great character designs, and then the animation done overseas, I believe, by The Answer Studio Co., Ltd. in Japan, not too shabby

  3. Also on Criterion Channel. An anthology film, like the UK movies I just wrote about, so despite its 3 hour length you could watch Kwaidan in segments. I strongly recommend sitting through the whole thing at once, though; "taking a break" is kind of antithetical to the whole horror ethos, isn't it?

"Remember Me" from "Coco" is one of the most brilliant ways I've seen a song incorporated into the story itself. Miguel and Mama Coco singing it together makes me cry every time

There are SO many great songs from SO many great movies to choose from, but I have to give it to The Circle of Life from The Lion King. The second the film starts and this song permeates your senses, you KNOW you're about to witness a masterpiece.

  6. The three most beautifully filmed "horror" movies I can think of, very broadly defining the genre, are Jacques Tourneur's I Walked with a Zombie (1943), Charles Laughton's The Night of the Hunter (1965) and Peter Weir's The Last Wave (1977).
