Interesting news from work. A good friend works in a position that sees what's happening on the AI front at work. Said that leadership has brought in a consulting group that evaluates where AI can replace humans and they're currently evaluating my department of around 200 folk. Now, I've been saying this could happen, but only my buddy and I agree, maybe one other person. Sooo... RIP our jobs in 2027 probably.

So I did a round of “AI annotator” freelance work. It’s a pretty bleak thing to put your time into. It’s the perfect storm of incompetence with people management, technical incompetence, ridiculously specific and thankless work, and hordes of people clamoring for said work. Getting a few bucks for my trouble is fine, but I would hate myself if I was forced to do this.
I got my first pretty-useless AI/#clanker-driven Security Advisory report on #github. Not that it was _wrong_, just that it's a report for a demo driver in my hobby lzw project (clobbers input file if same as output file), which I only published binaries for to learn how it works. I guess I should actually just remove all releases, since the release flow is semi-broken anyway.
I commented under a pull request today giving tips to get it merged. Now, after looking through the github account I think the pull request as well as it's description might have been ai-generated. Now I have this weird sense of betrayal, like I was cheated out of a social interaction 😑
a while ago I made a bunch of unhinged requests to Amazon's shopping AI about things like "the best conceal carry holster for my dog" and I'm pleased to announce it's paid off Nice. Has a cat, could be improved by asking about Wildcat claw cutters a muzzle and protective clothing. :-)
