BioWare EA Dragon Age

  1. That Mass Effect 5 trailer is rough. Not bad rough, but like "Why did this need the Mass Effect IP" rough. Like, take a moment and replay it, but try to forget everything you know about Mass Effect. THE WHOLE THING STILL WORKS PERFECTLY FINE. The writing is great. The vibes are perfect. The art direction is spot-on. This is what I mean when I say "IP is killing the entertainment industry." Under a fresh IP, a small team with a AA budget could've made this game with minimal c-suite meddling.

  2. Threeka's "Learning Center" was directly inspired by the descriptions of planets in #MassEffect. The idea was to adopt the encyclopedic style of the ME Codex, add a bit of humor, and try to tell a story by gradually revealing little pieces of incidental information. I think it came together pretty well. Anyway, it's a shame we won't get another one of those games. I liked them quite a bit. threeka.com/learning-center

  3. Well, the time has come for BioWare. The game studio known best for the #MassEffect and #DragonAge series has now closed it's doors While sad, it has been a very long time since they released a successful game. The talent for which they're so well known for (RPG games) has long since departed Still, more sad #gaming news in a era of so much already. Clearly this has been covered and re-covered already, so this is just my own brief look over their work: gardinerbryant.com/farewell-bi…

I know gamers don't know a world before 2005 exists so it's been weird to see BioWare mostly celebrated for Mass Effect and Dragon Age I remember back in the day when I saw older gamers hate their newer "casual" games cause they used to make "real" games like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. Anyway ignore elitism and play what you want. But also experience more their old output. I don't want to say Mass Effect sucks or anything but it wasn't the best thing they did.

  5. RIP BioWare. The last time I was madly in love with a BioWare game was Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2, but they made many of my favorite CRPGs like Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2 and Knights of the Old Republic, and while Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 1 and 2 never quite reached that same apex for me personally, they were still the best CRPGs of their era. I didn't know anyone who was still left at BioWare, but it's sad to see the death of a company with that kind of legacy.

Heartbreaking news - EA is shutting down BioWare. I was so hoping for more Mass Effect. It was a long slog downhill after EA acquired them. But I, like so many others, continued to hope. Always in my heart Commander Shepard. #gaming #masseffect theverge.com/games/1015647/ea-…

  7. Well fuck. RIP BioWare. Mass Effect is still my favorite game franchise, I’m replaying the trilogy now. The ME universe is one of my favorite science fiction universes, I love the world building and the races in it so much. Despite BioWare’s recent performances, Mike Gamble really seemed to be going somewhere with ME5, and it had a ton of potential.

Fuck EA. #bioware "There's power in stories, though. That's all history is: The best tales. The ones that last. Might as well be mine." I'd been - at most - a very casual gamer until the original KOTOR in 2003. I was instantly hooked. And then Dragon Age Origins in 2009 took that to another level entirely. I've loved or *really* liked every Dragon Age game. Played each one to completion at least 5x each. This just sucks. Fuck EA.

A trailer for an unreleased Mass Effect game titled Mass Effect: Universe has leaked on Reddit. The footage was posted by a burner account claiming EA affiliation, arriving shortly after Electronic Arts decided to shut down developer BioWare and cut jobs. The trailer features a new protagonist in an N7 trench coat alongside Liara T'Soni, built from pre-production assets. Journalist Jason Schreier has confirmed via Bluesky that the le… en.hacks.gr/dierreyse-sto-diad… #MassEffect #BioWare #EA #Gaming
