UK #CambridgeAnalytica data thefts used by #LeaveEU to sway voters... 2018 USA...personal information of millions of Facebook users was made available to a political lobbying group without users' consent. 2026 USA #Meta gets $25billion fine tinyurl.com/346vx7x8 @ukgovernment.bsky.social ???

  2. The U.S. side claims the SpaceX restrictions have been lifted, U.S. sources indicate Trump called Musk and the decision was taken, clearly suggesting Trump is in charge. But facts on the ground in Ukraine say otherwise, see below. This unreliability and lack of accountability is unacceptable.

Meta shuts down "No Kings" account during major anti-Trump protest ...and no, it wasn't just by accident: open.substack.com/pub/populari...

Meta’s action against No Kings is the latest in a series of “errors” impacting the accounts of Trump critics. On October 15, a Brazilian court ordered Meta to stop throttling the accounts of President Lula, a Trump critic who is facing Trump’s preferred candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro, in a runoff election. Meta acknowledged that Lula’s accounts faced restrictions but, according to the Associated Press, blamed the issue on “unrelated global technical glitches.” In September, Instagram suspended the accounts of Albanian groups protesting Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who is planning to develop a luxury resort in the country. A Meta spokesperson said the accounts were “disabled by mistake.” Meta also initially rejected ads for the film Musk, a critical documentary of Trump’s political ally, calling it “an error.” In other cases, Meta has shut down accounts at the explicit request of the Trump administration. Last October, then-Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Department of Justice (

  5. By saying ‘he put it back’ Trump’s admitting that Musk took down Starshield in the first place. So either a trillionaire private citizen can now decide the future of an entire European country or Trump is lying about having ordered Musk to do it in order to aid Russia.

Musk wealth is from long term government contracts and owning too much technology. It's similar to John D Rockefeller owning too much oil production and oil transportation at the same time over a century ago. That's what led to his holdings being split into different companies to create competition.

But Rubio and Hegseth said Trump had nothing to do with anything and it would be inappropriate for the Admin to direct a private company to take any particular action - it's entirely up to the company under the terms of service. really i think part of the issue with Twitter, the obvious stuff that's always pointed out aside, is how in certain cases its influence on smaller things (i.e fandom culture) tends to be pretty massive to the point it leaks onto other sites and sometimes into the actual real world.
