Shane Gillis monologue

59 of the story’s 87 posts, best first: one per person. We leave out exact copies and posts from people whose settings keep them off pages like this one. Page 1 of 2. The title is the name people mention most, or the opening line of the best post.

SNL simply has no choice but to have Shane Gillis host twice a year for the rest of time. No one else has his ability to stare directly at the cue cards for his lines like a toddler sounding out Dr. Seuss while combining it with razor-sharp material like "calling stuff gay"

    Opinion
  2. Levy posted an Instagram Reel on Sunday night reacting to Gillis’ monologue in disbelief. “Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists,” Levy began. variety.com/2026/tv/news...

The Shane Gillis stuff is just another example of how the point of modern conservative comedy isn't to laugh at the jokes themselves, it's for them to laugh at the people who get upset by the jokes.

I've never seen anything else he's actually done in terms of standup or movies, but based solely on his Saturday Night Live appearances, Shane Gillis might be the least funny man in America. A charmless milquetoast guy desperately trying and failing to be edgy staring at cue cards makes for bad TV.

One of the most tedious thing about the "anti-woke" comedy bros like Shane Gillis is that they've successfully found a way to spin their boring, out-of-date, "heard it a thousand times before on a Reddit thread" jokes as radical because anyone who calls it out as crap must be over-sensitive. Yawn.

Maybe the only watchable segment of last night's ultra-cringe SNL. Ironically, both of Rosalia's performances were shockingly spectacular. James Austin Johnson is an amazing impersonator.

The thing about Shane Gillis' monologue is not just that its offensive. Or unfunny. Or stupid. Or boring (it is all those things). Its that its dorky as all hell. These manosphere dudes are just getting dorkier and dorkier and in their little bubble, they somehow think they're actually very cool.

  8. Love how SNL is gonna do infinite mea culpas for the totally deserved Shane Gillis firing by having his racist unfunny ass on each year to cheekily break rules that have gotten women and people of color blacklisted from the program.

Why and how Shane Gillis got to host SNL a second time is beyond me. Not only is he deeply unfunny he’s also apparently a horrible misogynist who openly swore on the show. Something Jenny Slate was fired for. Consequences for any of this would be welcomed with open arms.

Just watched Shane Gillis' SNL monologue because the things I was reading made me curious. I don't even have anything to say about the "offensive" stuff because I am truly baffled: did this man genuinely get famous from doing stand-up? He has NEGATIVE charisma. I would have guessed he just started.

  11. People seem shocked by SNL last night. I cringed through the entirety of Shane Gillis’ grotesque set at #JohnStewart 9/11 25th anniversary charity show. Unfortunately the worst part was the young men who stood up to give him an extra standing applause as if to salute to his misogyny.

I remember Charles Rocket was banned from SNL for life after he dropped an f-bomb on live TV and somehow just know in my heart of hearts that we’ll be seeing Shane Gillis giggling his way through another inane monologue next season

With gang rape in the news and women being FURIOUS with men, Shane Gillis goes on SNL in a t-shirt and calls women "whores." Dude is the epitome of mediocrity. Failing upward his whole career.

There are many reasons Shane Gillis sucks as a person, but he sucks as a comedian because he punches down. It’s just not funny and it’s lazy writing. Anyway, I hate skipping SNL episodes, but I won’t even watch that one illegally.

  15. I think I’m one of a small number still watching SNL - and I don’t just think Gillis is not funny, he’s actively unfunny and cringy (and not in a way like, comedy is edgy and pushing norms kind of way)

Shane Gillis bombs for the third time with a mainstream audience when will everyone stop pretending he isn’t just a Roganverse comic?

    Opinion
  17. @marcdachamp.bsky.social

I thought last night’s SNL was pretty solid on the whole (a lot better than the season premiere), but the monologue was cringe inducing. Just everything that conservatives think is supposed to be comedy. Lot of women bashing and gay bashing in a short window.

  18. I can’t wait for Lorne Michaels to die so all the horrific stories about him can come out. Letting MAGA misogynist Shane Gillis host is a real choice in this social climate. Men are so mid. His whole monologue is rape culture. So funny.

i've been telling everyone i know to watch SNL UK because it is so so funny but i'm starting to feel like those aholes who were always like "The original UK Office is soooo much better than the US version"

  21. @irishbelle07.bsky.social

Ugh. I've never been into Shane Gillis, but I turned off his SNL episode from this week when he started his monologue and he said that women "dress like whores now" in the gym. I gave it a minute to see if he was gonna recover from it... he did not 👎🏻

  22. Wait, I’m sorry, that Shane Gillis clip about women being whores for wearing shorts is from the year 20 and 26 and not some godforsaken open mic in a Reno bar in 1982?

So yeah, Shane Gillis calls women whores on SNL and you better believe we need a whole lot of men to be the ones to disrupt the group chat right now.
