When something goes wrong.

Installing

  • Windows says the app is unrecognisedThe installer isn't code-signed yet. Choose More info → Run anyway, or verify the SHA-256 from the download page first.
  • The AppImage won't startMake it executable: chmod +x the file. On some distributions you also need FUSE installed.
  • Nothing for macOSThere is no macOS build. Running from source is possible but unsupported.

Using it

  • A name won't openNames are checked against a public record, and that check needs a moment on a cold start. If it persists, the name may not have any content published to it.
  • My page published but the bare name won't open in Wildroot Known, and being fixed. The yourname.w3.hns.one link works everywhere in the meantime.
  • Mail app won't connectUsername is your full address; the password is the mailbox password shown on Wildroot's Mail page. Incoming mail.hns.one 993 (SSL/TLS), outgoing mail.hns.one 465 (SSL/TLS).
  • I'm asked to unlock my vaultIf you set a vault password yourself, that prompt is correct and there is no way around it — that is the point of it. If you never set one and are still being asked, you're on an old build; install the current one.

Where your data lives

Your keys and vault are in your user profile directory — under %APPDATA%\hnsone-browser on Windows and ~/.config/hnsone-browser on Linux. Uninstalling the browser does not delete them; deleting that folder does, permanently, including the keys to your name.
