Help & feedback

Let’s get you unstuck.

Practical next steps for the alpha. For a bug report, tell us what you tried, what you expected and what actually happened.

Windows says the publisher is unrecognised.

The desktop installer is unsigned, so Windows may warn about it. Download only from this site and compare its SHA-256 with the published checksums. If you prefer to use signed software, wait for a signed release. A checksum is not a publisher signature.

The Linux AppImage will not start.

Make the downloaded file executable with chmod +x <file>. If your distribution lacks FUSE 2, the AppImage can be run with APPIMAGE_EXTRACT_AND_RUN=1 ./<file>.AppImage. On Debian or Ubuntu, the .deb is another option.

My name is registered, but a service is still pending.

Mail and social setup run in the background. Registration, DNS publication and service readiness are separate steps. Let setup finish, then reopen the relevant page. If it stays pending, report the service and the status shown; never include private keys or passwords.

A name or page will not open.

Check your connection and the address-bar information. Desktop naming verification may need time to catch up after launch. The destination may be unavailable, or a name may not yet have published content. Private mode can also refuse a route it cannot use privately; the page’s error should explain that.

A file says it is local or waiting for storage.

That state means the upload has not been confirmed. Keep the local copy. Check the provider connection and available capacity in Settings → Storage. Replacing a publication and backing up an unrelated local folder are different actions.

How do I restore my identity?

Use the identity backup file you exported from Settings → Identity. It carries the keys for your identity and online storage. Keep it private. It does not recreate local documents; those need their own backups. If both the vault and backup file are lost, we cannot recover the keys.

Can I use another email app?

Use the exact connection settings and mailbox credentials shown by Wildroot. The username is your full email address. Keep the mailbox password private. Android exposes these settings because it does not yet have the desktop mail client.

Where is the desktop profile stored?

On Windows, %APPDATA%\hnsone-browser. On Linux, ~/.config/hnsone-browser. The folder includes sensitive identity and vault data. Do not delete it as a troubleshooting step. Export a backup before uninstalling or resetting anything.

Help shape the alpha.

Send your operating system, Wildroot version, steps to reproduce and the exact error text. A screenshot can help; remove private messages, email addresses and personal file details first. Never send your identity backup, vault, passwords or private keys.

Security reports can use the same contact. Please describe the issue without attaching secrets.
