A few minutes to find your feet.
Start with the desktop for the fullest experience. You can explore the browser before you choose a name.
1. Install and open Wildroot.
Choose your platform on the download page. Windows and Linux offer the desktop workspace. Android is a separate alpha with a smaller feature set.
The desktop application and installer currently use the name HNS.ONE Browser. That is Wildroot. The download page lists the exact files and checksums.
2. Choose an available name.
The welcome flow checks availability before you claim. A new name has the form yourname.wildroot. Your keys are made on your device; you do not need a wallet, tokens or a purchase to claim a free name.
Your public page uses yourname.wildroot.io, and your mailbox uses yourname@wildroot.io. Mail and social provisioning happen in the background, so a name being registered and every service being ready are separate steps.
3. Make Home useful.
Add a folder you want to work with. Open Mail or Social. Use Customize Home to choose which panels you see, then move or resize them to suit you. Apps is in the sidebar when you want to explore the available tools.
4. Export your backup file.
Open Settings → Identity and export your identity file. It carries your identity keys and the key for your online storage. Keep a safe copy away from this device, and treat it as sensitive: it can restore control of your identity.
There is no recovery phrase. If both your vault and backup file are lost, we cannot recreate your keys. The identity file does not contain every document or photo you store; keep backups of your content too.
5. Publish your free website.
Your free name includes starter hosting for a website. Create a page or pick a folder in Files and choose Publish. Follow the browser’s storage and publishing steps, then open the result.
Visit yourname.wildroot directly in Wildroot or any browser that supports Handshake. Share yourname.wildroot.io with people using any other browser.
Update your content and publish again to keep the same address. Starter storage limits apply, and online storage must be connected. Keep your original files while testing.
