My old 8 yr old phone overheated, so I had a few blissful days of no mobile Internet and embracing Nature. Got a new phone, and coming back to Social Media be like:

The flip phone say it has a hot spot but is doesn't work The flip phone has no directory app The Flip phone cant take a screen shot of a text Other than that it's largely just ascetics

Emerging wireless stuff, once that's done I'm pretty set unless installing grub has issues. Still haven't picked a WM. Probably either notion or i3.

What's my best option for a non-android linux (or BSD?) phone these days? a. Do NOT need a recent or "high-end" phone. Looking for something in the $100 used range. Early 4g era is FINE. b. MUST be able to easily replace desktop with a simple X11 window manager. c. Don't want to go through heroic shit to get the OS installed. (For reference: current phone is a Sonim XP8800. Favorite phone ever: Moto Droid 4.) #Linux #Android

Over 100,000 people and 67+ organizations are standing up to Google's attempt to lock down Android. Join the fight for a truly open mobile ecosystem. keepandroidopen.org @keepandroidopen #KeepAndroidOpen well looks like we are screwed by the time android does this in 2027 so that means I can't even install CSR anymore and since I'vealready had a lack of freaking soundthemes on that screenreader anyway and this also means too that the the I can't install any other TTS engines on android which could mean I can't use eSpeak on android which means the eSpeak on the playstore we are stuck with. I would not use android but I love a couple of phones .. Freedom and nothing which could make a case for using Graphene as love their ethos .. yes Apple fan boy but can not be silly about benefits of others
Speaking live from the new phone 😆 it allows me to use DMs again without intrusive facial verification 🙌 Hopefully this one won't decide to try and blow up in my hands 😆
Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
