One of the weirdest groups of people online are the ones who proudly announce how they support Youtube by paying for Premium rather than using adblock. It's as if they aren't aware that Google is a massive unethical megacorporation that'll be just fine without your dollars.

there are a few reasons I’m considering moving to a Fairphone next time I change my phone, and a big one is that Firefox on Android can have Adblock sometimes I’ll try to read a news story or go on a wiki and it feels like my iPhone has caught a disease

Site-blocking isn’t just theoretically dangerous. Italy’s system blocked hundreds of innocent websites. Spain’s swept up domains belonging to Greenpeace and Harvard. Now Congress wants to bring this to the U.S. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

Anti Surveillance Tech PSA: YouTube has a stupid tracking code thing that forces you to become "friends" just from clicking a link. This creates social links G can track you & others by, with a false "consent". Please follow the steps in this video with your account to turn that tracking BS off.

  9. I want some kind of browser plugin that actually keeps track of ads somehow -- what company/service/product is it for? Now I want those ads blocked of course, but I want to be able to check and see who has been committing spam/ads/marketing in order to know who/what to boycott at the store. Basically I'd like to be able to easily limit my spending to "generics" that haven't committed advertising in *at least* a year. But I don't actually know who all the folks committing advertising *are* because, of course, their ads are hidden by my ad blocker.

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
