Few days ago, F-Droid got a major update and now no longer looks ancient. I thought it's a good opportunity to start the Android section on my self-hosting blog. Google wants to make life harder for alternative app stores, so go and install F-Droid while it's still simple. It's the easiest way to make Android a little more privacy-friendly. selfhosting.too-many-machines.… #fdroid #android #privacy

What's my best option for a non-android linux (or BSD?) phone these days? a. Do NOT need a recent or "high-end" phone. Looking for something in the $100 used range. Early 4g era is FINE. b. MUST be able to easily replace desktop with a simple X11 window manager. c. Don't want to go through heroic shit to get the OS installed. (For reference: current phone is a Sonim XP8800. Favorite phone ever: Moto Droid 4.) #Linux #Android

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
