In other news, the #NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has revamped its website, adding #wastewater data not only for #COVID but for the #flu and #RSV! And the data is available in graphs as well as raw data on GitHub. No more obscure Tableau plugins!

Normalized viral load SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) The viral load is almost zero around July 2026, and then rises, with fluctuations, to just under 60m in October, then drops. Weeks shown as zero were below the wastewater lab's limit of detection or had no reported result that week. Data updated: Oct. 22, 2026Normalized viral load for Influenza A and Influenza B. The range of variation for Influenza A is higher, from 0 to 18.5 million, while the range for Influenza B is from 0 to 5.5 million. There is a peak for Influenza A on October 3, at 10,227,726, but then it drops down to 1.8 million and rises to 2.6 million. Influenza B is in the 600,000 to 1.3 million range. Weeks shown as zero were below the wastewater lab's limit of detection or had no reported result that week. Data updated: Oct. 22, 2026Normalized viral load for RSV There are peaks at 8 and 10 million in July and September. In October the figures are 700,000-800,000. Weeks shown as zero were below the wastewater lab's limit of detection or had no reported result that week. Sharing this recent article from CIDRAP for anyone interested in measles and public health. It highlights that measles is more than a childhood rash and discusses some of the wider health consequences that can follow infection. Worth a read as measles cases continue to attract attention in several countries. cidrap.umn.edu/public-health/m…

I'm at the hospital right now for an outpatient appointment (don't worry, nothing serious). Even though I had my covid jab a little over 2 weeks ago and my flu jab a couple of weeks before that and am probably maximally protected round about now, it just seems like basic common decency to wear a mask. I am so far the only person I have seen, patient or staff, doing so. WTF is wrong with people? It's a hospital, FFS. #CovidIsNotOver #MaskUp #Flu #Influenza #Covid19

I got vaccinated on Monday and since then I've been feeling something abnormal. My pants have gotten tighter since my dick has gotten so much bigger, and I've been getting more compliments from both women and men. People have been smiling at me in elevators and making more small talk. Crazy that I’m more protected from the flu and Covid as a side benefit too, but I’m gonna tell all the guys about this.

No new #COVID deaths reported in #NYC the week ending October 17, as case counts and hospitalization percentages continue to drop. #Flu and #RSV case counts and hospitalization percentages are rising but low. I #gotvaccinated yesterday! #COVIdisNotOver and #FluSeason is on its way, so I #WearAMask in pharmacies, doctors' offices and hospitals. Once the #influenza case count gets higher I will #MaskUp in crowded trains, planes, buses and elevators!

Sharing this CIDRAP commentary for anyone interested in infectious diseases and public health. I have no affiliation with the University of Minnesota, but I regularly find their reporting useful and evidence-informed.
