Name your fav band/artist when you were 18. The Beatles since forever but REM was indisputably my favorite band in 1992 when I turned 18. Automatic for the People came out that year and I listened to that album from beginning to end SO many times.

Name your fav band/artist when you were 18. I was a gothy/grungy kid. I honestly don't listen to much Nirvana these days, and I'm not 100% sure why. I do hear them from time to time on the radio, but they're not in my rotations. FWIW One band that "stuck with me" later into life is Garbage.

Big Brother and the Holding Company/Full Tilt Boogie Band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young The Grateful Dead Cream Jefferson Airplane 1969/1970 was great for music…

Saw these fellas live in 1988. No stadium theatrics. No wall of televisions. No choreography. No special effects. Just pure, unadulterated hard rock. I've never seen a better performance in my life.

Hmm. I listened to a lot of unpopular stuff (still do)… But I recall my friends each giving me a different Michael Bolton CD for my birthday as a gag and… I kinda liked them?

  8. @jonpaulmaki.com

There were plenty of others that I loved at 18, but since I was 15 there's really only ever been Sabbath.

the pillows i was in my flcl high at the time thanks to the sequels and how it brought the og back into ppl's minds (including mines), and i was getting more into the pillow's discography outside of the series and the rest is history 🎵CAN YOU FEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLL, CAN YOU FEEL THAT HYBRID RAINBOW🎵

  10. @animaniac89.bsky.social

Nine Inch Nails, which has historically always been my favorite band, but shares the top spot with Ghost now.

I was on such a musical/pop opera kick! I'd listen to everything from Tommy to Les Mis, rather than specific artists... Since anything by Andrew Lloyd Weber except Cats was on my CD desk stack, I'll go with him.

  12. JOURNEY I never got to see them live

  13. @frotting.mom

18 was when I found out about Visual Kei And yet again ignored the idea that I could be attracted to men. Totally didn't think about being double teamed by Mana and Klaha. Nope. Dont know what you mean, I'm a lesbian doncha know?

  20. Mars Volta with Nine Inch Nails in a close fucking contention…but also AFI was in the mix. I listened to a LOT of music in ‘04

  21. I had a lot of favorites, but UB40 was definitely in the top 10.

Name your fav/band artist when you were 18. (My only defence is that my music taste was in thrall to a brother ten years older than me.)

  23. I've always seriosuly enjoyed listening to a bit of Queen myself. Still do. ;-)

  24. @drogyn.bsky.social

Audioslave. I hadn‘t quite found “my music” yet, but I was getting close.

  25. @mcdave121.bsky.social

“Don’t worry be happy was the #1 jam” “Damn, if I say it you can slap me right here”

  26. This song has not aged well with that "scared white boy in a black neighborhood" line. I haven't even bothered with them since those Songs From an American Movie albums.

    Opinion
  27. @acedian.bsky.social
