  1. HP books have pretty much escaped ubiquity in the collective consciousness of modern kids and the kid lit landscape has changed so, so much in the last 30 years that trying to play catch-up NOW by sending a few boxes out to scholastic book fairs will not make a dent in this issue.

Four years ago, I used to be a librarian. When they gave us complementary books at book fairs, they were newer books… Not 20 year old books, unless it was a special reissue. Like new art, new cover, an unabridged version or something. Maybe things have changes since then… But I kinda doubt it.

Audiobook ads are inescapable, references are awkwardly dropped into new media as if we're in an alternate reality where it's not a touchy subject, even otaku spaces are flooded with gender bend fetish art of one of a pre-teen child who they refer to by a fascist slur. It's all so desperate.

Felt a similar way when Helen Joyce’s ‘Trans’ was sent to Rob post the war over at The Bad Place. Was a bit warm for a fire so we settled for the skip.

You know, seeing my books in the Scholastic catalogue was one of the proudest moments of my life. So it gives me no pleasure to say the following: Hey, Scholastic, go fuck yourselves.

  7. I would once again like to say that even if you ignore the transphobic elephant in the room this book series is fucking dogshit and you can do so much better for yourself or your kids or whoever you're getting this for

Lol lmao at people torn on if its okay to burn harry potter books as if the burning of books in and of itself is an affront no matter what the book is No babes, theres millions of these fuckers out there, lighting up some of em is good actually

Actual humans in the replies are against a book being given to children so they can learn to read, and even people making suggestions of BURNING BOOKS in the replies. The author's shitty behavior is no excuse for outright support of book burning & denying Children the ability to read.

These are for a book fair, to be sold, not even for classrooms. It’s literally just “have these books to make us more money we can then give to the genocide lady again”

  11. neat, now we can marshmallows :D yay! they probably couldn't sell them so they gave it away for free. should have buried all the copies in the desert tbh. Its rude to just give trash to random people 🙄
