God I love The Dead Zone. It’s so slow and weird and contemplative. The gazebo scene is so well done and I’ve been haunted by that scissors death since I was a literal child who should not have been watching The Dead Zone (have a similar memory of the arm breaking scene in The Fly). Tom Skerritt was one of those faces that was somehow always there, as I grew up. I remember watching him in Picket Fences, for example. He’s also in one of my favorite movies, Contact. RIP to one of the greats.
