Get your name on Wildroot
One name, all of these: you.wildroot.io on the web, you@wildroot.io for email, @you.wildroot.io on Bluesky and @you@wildroot.io on the fediverse. Save a recovery key file, then use your device passkey for everyday sign-in.
1. Pick your name
2. Save your key file
Your key was made on this device just now and has not been sent anywhere. It is your login for .
There is no password reset. If you lose this file and every device that has it, the name is gone. Nobody at Wildroot can recover it.
What is the key file for?
It is the same file the Wildroot browser writes when you back up a name. Open it in the Wildroot browser (Identity, then Add a key file) or in Wildroot Social (Sign in, then I have a Wildroot key file), or come back to this page and open it here. It holds your private keys, so keep it like a house key: do not email it or post it.
Setting up
Bluesky and the fediverse usually take under a minute, at busy times a few. You can switch apps and come back: this page carries on. Closing it loses nothing: open your key file here later to finish.
Your feed
Everyone you follow on Bluesky and the fediverse, in one timeline: Wildroot Social.
This signs you in to Wildroot Social on this device with the key you just made. The key stays on this page: Social keeps a Bluesky app password and your fediverse sign-in, as with any sign-in.
Open Wildroot Social and sign in with your key file instead.
Sign in with this device
One-time setup. The encrypted identity stays in this browser. Clearing site data or using a new browser requires your key file again.
Device sign-in and recovery
Android encrypted passkeys unlock the identity locally. Windows device sign-in verifies your passkey with Wildroot, then releases a separate unlock key over HTTPS. Wildroot stores that unlock key encrypted on its server; your identity file stays encrypted in this browser. Both are needed to open it.
Keep your downloaded key file somewhere safe. Device sign-in is optional and does not replace your backup.

Saved as in your Downloads folder.
- Wildroot browser: Identity, then Add a key file, then pick it from Downloads.
- Wildroot Social: Sign in, then I have a Wildroot key file.
A page with just your addresses (no key needed, safe to bookmark or share).
