Really wish the WSGI and ASGI specs were better at saying what the responsibilities of the server vs the app are. For example, is the app (framework) responsible for ensuring a 304 response doesn't have a body, or is the server? Since it's not specified, technically both sides have to do it since neither know how the other side decided to interpret things. gunicorn and hypercorn remove a 304 body, but granian and daphne don't. #python #flask

After looking a little deeper, it seems like gunicorn, hypercorn, granian, daphne, and waitress all handle this. I didn't check uwsgi or others. There's a bit of indirection since some of them build on other protocol libraries. But this is only one of many cases, and even after having worked on Flask for over a decade I still have no idea what the assumptions are or how consistently they're applied. I didn't even know this was an assumption until refactoring some code in Werkzeug today (which turns out to be unnecessary if all the servers are handling it). #python #flask

Instead of with Rust everybody should rewrite their Ruby and Python code in my new language: “Brain Worms”. I made it myself by telling Claude to make a new programming language that’s like Rust but 5 times faster.

Search looks through the last 48 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. Meaning search uses a model on Wildroot’s server. Query text may be sent through OpenRouter to an embedding provider if that model is unavailable or for a quality-check sample. Wildroot does not save query text to disk.
