Fav thing to do when students who use AI deny it: read a paragraph aloud to them. (Cue dramatic elocution 😅) Suddenly, somehow… hearing that straaange diction & syntax removes all of the “my mom helped me” & “I used a thesaurus” excuses. They just stare at the screen & go, “Ok, yeah.” #teaching

  5. Not even just for parenting either. There's ton of benefit in doing it teaching as well. My kids even when I taught hs vs ms loved having stories told to them. It's a very important part of human interaction to be *present* for them & part of that is showing personable story telling skills to guide.

  8. People who say kids need to use "A . I ." to do well in school sound to me like the kind of gun worshipers who proclaim that a few dead children is an acceptable price for completely unfettered access to unlimited weaponry.

I’m sorry, I gotta stick up for science here. The “struggle to find [a] piece of information” is basically the point of the entire enterprise, and is definitely taught!

I'm teaching a general first-year seminar course; as part of the course I will be teaching them a tiny bit of computer science (everyone teaching the course gets to include a bit of content from their discipline, as a way to get them thinking about interdisciplinarity, the liberal arts, etc.). I'd like to give them something to read about the idea of compositionality - anyone have any good suggestions of something like that written for a general audience?

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
