  2. There are many ways to share Mastodon posts with other people: - To share a post with your followers, click its "Boost" button (usually 🔄 arrows or 🚀 a rocket, depending on your interface or app) - To share a post with people outside the Fediverse, click ⋯ on the post and then "copy link" or "copy link to status". Then paste this link wherever you want to share the post (e.g. on a website or on a different social network). More info and methods at fedi.tips/how-do-i-share-posts… #FediTips #Mastodon

Breakthrough on the #mastodon plugin idea. There isn't a meta tag to identify a page as Mastodon, but every Mastodon page includes a div with the id "mastodon". It would be an ugly hack, but a plugin can just check every page for a div with that ID. If it finds one, it can then find the reply and boost buttons inside that div, and change their targets accordingly. Only a slight chance of a false positive.

Also hell yes to past me who copy pasted all of the instructions for re-build any of the mastodon servers. While I haven't got it all nicely automated (yet) it is at least relatively painless to re-install things.

Mastodon, I'm stuck in Rexall again. Please amuse me for ten seconds by telling me about a piece of art (music, book, videogame, piece of software which seemed to you an exceptional piece of craft, industrial design, visual art, graffiti, well cooked meal) that made you Excited recently

Okay #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon - That's everything that had to be switched over to Debian as part of the external assessment done now and I'm hoping this should also improve some of the glitches and random outages we were seeing on Universeodon now there's a second web server to load balance and remain online if the primary does lag or crash. I have a whole load more work I need to do to re-build the remaining servers as well as upgrading us to Mastodon 4.7 and a load of other bits but we should now be in a good place and I'm hopeful I should get the update tomorrow that the assessment

  7. Mastodon is part of a much larger social network called "The Fediverse". That means you can not only follow Mastodon accounts but also accounts from many other platforms such as PeerTube, Friendica, OwnCast, Pixelfed, BookWyrm etc. You're probably already following some non-Mastodon accounts without realising it, because their posts show up in your timeline just like Mastodon posts, and you follow and interact with them exactly the same way. Bridgy Fed now officially supports Mastodon quote posts! If you see a post bridged from the Atmosphere on the Fediverse, you can quote it using your Mastodon account. Small note: this will work for posts starting this week - older posts are not supported. Happy quoting!

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
