Today's #100DaysCSS challenge: Random Line. I imagined the line as a gust of wind. Adding a spinning pinwheel in the middle felt just right. TIL: Layering animations. I nested wrappers so rotations add up, but #CSS animation-composition also works. Day 2 codepen.io/grrtej/pen/E...

Justice for CSS Fun seeing CSS be a topic in WIRED. Pete Millspaugh shouting out some greats: One programmer recently re-created Doom in CSS. Others have used it to build holographic Pokémon cards... https://chriscoyier.net/2026/10/09/justice-for-css/

i think one thing that leads to the perception of css as incomprehensible is that in mature web app codebases there are mountains of css produced by a policy along the lines of "add a new style to apply in one situation and then randomly perturb it until the result looks right"

Bootstrap 6 alpha 1 got announced today: blog.getbootstrap.com/2026/10/08/b... Great to see how many modern CSS features the project is now leaning into: @property, @layer, @starting-style, oklch(), color-mix(), light-dark(), interpolate-size, :has(), … (Yes, Bootstrap still is a thing)

the problem with the rule of least power is if your "suitable" estimate is wrong you end up scope-creeping yourself into the quadrant with the largest attack surface *and* the worst functionality

Working on my first webdev assignment, I spent over an hour pulling what remains of my hair out because no matter what I did to the HTML or the CSS, it kept rendering the same. Turns out I was using classes in the HTML but ids in the CSS, so the styling information didn't actually apply to anything on the page.

"31337" is an old hacker term referring to a 135-digit number beginning with 3, ending with 7, and with 133 digits in between; the number happens to correspond to a valid decryption key for the "CSS" encryption scheme used on DVDs. In the late 90s and early 00s, security enthusiasts would insert '31337" in their speech whenever they wished to decrypt a DVD

I've edited wikis for over 10 years (since I was 12). During that time, I've had very little "proper" guidance on how to use wikitext, HTML/CSS, most programming languages, etc. - but, gradually, I've learned the ropes. If an autistic kid with no compsci background can do it without AI, so can you.

Yesterday I did some long overdue updates to this project. The caniuse and bcd datasets can now be updated by the app itself. The app also warns when the datasets are quite old. Now also shows baseline status indicators. github.com/bramus/caniu...

To follow up, I got a reply on my trouble ticket saying that they *don’t* use LLMs for coding either It’s likely a common CSS library the LLMs just happen to be trained on which is unfortunate I’m just glad to have gotten concrete confirmation after hearing of other furry apps using AI coding

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
