    My high school librarian had the entire list of books the local evangelical fascists wanted banned on the shelves every year in the 80's. I read all of them I hadn't already read every year.

    while i always loved and found a lot of joy in libraries as any book loving child, a lot of that tends more to be school-libraries than public ones, which always, esp the older i got, felt very mundane and stifling - all sleek modernism with clashing primary colours.
