  1. I set up a #Jellyfin media server on my #Debian host, basically for the music and music videos. I found a bit disappointing the order it shows the different albums. Even "Album by artist" is weird. Show by evaluation and others aren't that important Imho. Almost all my folders show a name like "artist - album", there is no way to keep that order. Therefore I used a script to write an album.nfo in every folder, where the tag <name> looks like the folder name. I also find quite brainy changing the look of the web gui, the css are a mess. I solved almost everything but I'm getting crazy with the

  3. Long tech story with a happy ending and a funny punchline. I'll relegate some details to the replies. I have an old (2015) MacBook. Something got corrupted. I can get to the drive in the recovery OS, but it won't boot. No problem. I was thinking of putting debian on it anyway. I figure I'll […]

Following the series of poor life choices I made whenever it was I originally thought installing Ubuntu was a good idea, the #Universeodon SideKiq server has now been re-built onto Debian. I'm going to continue re-building all of our hosts anyway that are going to be impacting our external assessment as I've been wanting to switch away from Ubuntu for a while anyway. There may be some slight disruption but I'm planning to build out the new web nodes before I delete the old ones. If you notice any issues please give me a shout! #MastodonAppUK #Universeodon #ServiceUpdate #Mastoadmin

Okay #MastodonAppUK - We're now running both the web servers on Debian and everything looks to be working (Helps when you don't forget to run one of the dang commands) I need to go through now and do the same on our SideKiq servers and then we should be good!

  7. Past the abyss of rebooting to find if I skipped a step (setting a root password, reboot to fix, then...) or if the network failed to come up (it did, I went with the minimal route which means no Xorg, so NetworkManager was a bad call). Installing Xorg and i3 was shockingly painless. Now I'm on my way. Need to make sure the wireless flibbertygibbets and Xorg/WM startup is running properly. Last time I did this I was manually running 'startx ion3' for months because I'm Such A Good Sysadmin.

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
