#31daysofgraves today's theme - hidden or lettering? I've done lettering so here's hidden. Obscured by moss and lichen in #Lamlash #IsleofArran the grave of my 5&6 x great grandparents. What a find, with grateful thanks to the #ArranHeritageMuseum

#31DaysofGraves - Lettering Calvary Cemetery, Rochester, MN A handmade and hand lettered marker is a real act of love that stands out in a sea of equally lovely but more commercial markers.

#31DaysOfGraves #Lettering Not quite a gravestone, although it is in a graveyard, and not quite letter-ing, but letters: a "postbox to heaven" in Wolston, Warwickshire, suggested by a grieving relative. Read about it at www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Another one for #31DaysOfGraves Day 9: #Lettering I was particularly charmed by the monogram on this headstone I saw at Dryburgh Abbey in the far south east of Scotland. It marks the grave of Noel Jessie Haliburton Wilson, Countess of Mayo - she lived to be 101! (b. 25th December 1890 - d. 1992)

#31daysofgraves Day 9: Lettering. A surprisingly unweathered example of fraktur from a 19th century Lutheran church. The church’s age & denomination suggests the language is German; the church’s location suggests the language is Pennsylvania Dutch. (German speakers please tell me!)

#31DaysOfGraves Day 9: #Lettering. Beautiful #typography is one of the main reasons I love graveyard wandering. 🪦 I particularly enjoy looking for epitaphs carved in historic gothic blackletter typefaces. These headstones are all from the old burial ground / Galashiels Burial Aisle, Scotland. 🏴
#31daysofgraves - Day 9 - Lettering. When I visited our Carlin ancestor graves in Old Cumnock, I found one of the letters had fallen off. I stuck the 'B' back on for wee Bridget. This type of lettering doesn't always last but at least the indents are still in the stone.

Today's #31DaysOfGraves theme is lettering. This is the Miller monument in #Chichester #cathedral. The overall monument is a typically early 18th one but the text is especially elegant. @churchmonuments.bsky.social

I remember when you posted this one before? Did we rule out the initials being HR? (rather than an IHR?)

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service.
