This is a cool read! smarmelling.com/posts/the-ac... Have you ever wondered why it is port 3000, 8080 or maybe even 5173 that your local project is most likely running on? Why are these particular ones so popular in a world where you have tens of thousands to choose from? #networking #web

This is a good write up of a tricky vulnerability. I spent lots of time working on USSD stuff with Android apps - it has always been ignored by Google. I guess because it isn't widely used in the US?

i honestly believe Facebook for a short while ”solved” websites for private persons, small businesses and events, perhaps hobby forums as well. And then they destroyed all this.

Spent the week on Smart Photo Gallery's Private Vault — Face ID or PIN to open it, hidden from the main library. Also added a decoy PIN that opens a fake, empty vault instead of the real one. iPhone app, on-device, launching soon. #indiedev

Just one fresh example why pretty much everything TypeSafe and their people say should have a community note. Here their CTO seemingly first equates all benchmarking to benchmaxxing and then blames Microsoft for not giving their scores while they earlier apparently tried to forbid publishing those.

  6. Getting up to some Angular signal forms / reactive forms interop using some @flensrocker.de reactive form utilities from blog.flensrocker.de `FormValueOf` (type of `form = FormGroup<T>` --> `form.getRawValue()`) and `FormControlPath` rock, and `FormValueOf` is helping a lot. Work in progress.

Problem: Dokan Free blocks variable products. I spent a month building a feature-rich custom workaround, but it’s too fragile for beta. Solution: scrap the workaround and migrate to MarketKing Pro for a more stable foundation. Back to building. #buildinpublic Thoughts?

Going through the Interop list of features interop-rank.fxdx.dev and selecting and ranking the ones I want to see across browsers in 2027. I chose 15 features. At the top of my list are #HTML #a11y features `focusgroup`, ariaNotify(), `headingoffset` and `headingreset`.

a lot of "smart" tools / features that get put into fancy IDEs fall into the failure mode of getting in the user's way, interrupting their actions, presenting unsolicited and useless information, or occluding things they might be trying to look at

i think one thing that leads to the perception of css as incomprehensible is that in mature web app codebases there are mountains of css produced by a policy along the lines of "add a new style to apply in one situation and then randomly perturb it until the result looks right"

I disappear down my coding rabbit hole again for the afternoon. I thought that my latest update to 'ExtScanAlert' extension was causing bugs on websites. But it was an alterative private ext that was the problem. Both EXT additionally improved and made robust with changes. @stefancouper.wsocial.eu

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
