  1. Anthropic owns the toaster though. Would a cafe then not be able to tell customers to not be mean to it's toaster? One can certainly still buy their own toaster (run local LLM inference) and do whatever they want with it.

Being nice to the toaster is for your own health. Cussing out your tractor isn't good for you but there's no victim. This isn't a moral issue. Agree with Tressie. Don't tell me what I can't say to my toaster. That's the offensive part of this

  3. Why would we let Anthropic decide this for us? If you ascribe to a moral philosophy or religion that disavows being mean to a toaster, that is fine. It is not however fine for a tech company to make, functionally, a moral law for a talking word toaster that is promised to rule us one day.

The techbros are very obviously setting up “don’t be mean to AI” as not just a moral virtue but a speech prohibition. They gave the game away when they brought America’s worst dissembler on side to attempt to criminalize calling AI “artificial”.

I see someone's salty she got told not to mistreat Claude (If there's any difference between this woman's political philosophy and Mussolini's "tutto nello Stato, niente al di fuori dello Stato, nulla contro lo Stato", I can't find it)

  6. If you're so desperate to abuse a chatbot, there are plenty of companies happy to let you do that. But I can think of a dozen non-moral reasons why they don't want people abusing the chatbot, from the fact that it's commonly used to jailbreak models to the fact that they don't want it in training.

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
