"The tragic recent death of Corey Ruiz in Madison is the latest reminder of a system in crisis. Nine city residents have been shot by Madison #police since the 1990s... taxpayers paid over $10 million in civil settlements. Focusing on 'bad apples' misses the point. The problem is not that we have a few rogue cops; it is a work design and tactical culture system that predictably lead to lethal outcomes." When I started wanting to actually graduate from the MIT AI Lab in the late 1990s, I looked for my own niche, & found #systemsEngineering the most neglected part of AI. Thus #systemsAI and my own contribution of Behavior Oriented Design. People still are claiming data trains itself &c. 25 years on🙄

  3. Many of the current #AI “systems point backward, showing us where we have been rather than where we might go. Every answer it gives is a remix of yesterday’s knowledge, polished and repackaged until it feels like something new” - halldoramogensen.substack.com/…

This!! Also and I say this because I come from a broadly "security" rather than "safety" space - systems that do not function within specifications are not rationalisable to the democratic public.

  5. Spent much of yesterday / last night playing #Dressmaker. Here are some thoughts about it. 1. It's really fun to participate in something that other people are playing. that feeling of community is so nice. 2. Activating latent interest in clothes and fashion. >

Multi-agent systems fail quietly. All 3 sample questions in this Claude Architect scenario show no broken subagent. Incomplete report? Check the coordinator's decomposition first. datascienceinaction.substack.com/p/ccar-f-par...

not to downplay what my math friends are going through but I think this metaphor applies to so much of modern life for so many people www.quantamagazine.org/is-ai-the-en...

A thought: the hard part of software engineering always was and remains determining what's the right problem to solve. Solving the wrong problem can easily be a net-negative and if you do it faster, the cost accrues faster.

  9. my personal theory is that modern software process is pretty much the worst process for using llm coding tools because most teams iterate their way to a solution and underinvest in testing and specification.

  10. thinking about how the current economy might just be the driving force behind most of the population using AI everything is so comically expensive that, when given the option to offload so much work and do so many hobbies for free, why wouldn’t you jump at the chance regardless of the consequences?

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
