Most people don't do accessibility for disabled people. This is just a fact. But developers love to cling on technology: "Let's do stuff for screen readers!" "Here is a widget for making stuff more accessible." If you mechanize accessibility, people are interested. That's where the whole "do AI because of accessibility" narrative comes from. But the technology are not the people. It's a big mistake to confuse it. #a11y

New project: document excess brightness (I should think up a hashtag). Each day, I'll log any interface element that blocks me due to contrast issues. My goal is to log for one week. We begin tomorrow! Background: Almost every day, I confront popups, app screens or other elements that do not obey dark mode, or offer the color contrast I need to use it. This, despite enabling both a dark mode browser extension and the native dark appearances on macOS and iOS. #a11y

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
