i really need cis people to understand that replacing/adding onto gendered words with "they" goes against the reasons why many of us choose to identify as nonbinary. i know a lot of the time it's meant to be in good fun, but if you're trying to be inclusive it's better to avoid gendered language.

went out to a farmers market today and picked up a few things. an older woman at a stall asked me curiously what my they/them pin meant, since she saw other people wearing them too. so i explained that i’m nonbinary and those are the pronouns i use. she smiled and went “ah!! thank you! now i know”

happy national coming out day!! it's just over 10 years since i came out publicly as nonbinary/agender. feels weird to say that, considering i am only 27 and i came out when i was 16, which is so so young. i love that i knew myself so well at the time, and it's wild to know how proud i would be-
