if we got way more data centers for me it would just mean a place I could start building a computer to have colocated in a local data center where It would be connected to the fiber optic backbone of the internet. the more of them there are the cheaper that gets.

Yesterday I logged into both my data centers, because I wanted Codex to look at pricing across them both, then it set up a new box in the dc I have servers in already, logged into both servers over ssh, migrated them without passing the data through my house, good job too because it was like 60 gigs or some something. Added extra storage to the new box, backed up scripts on the old one, shut it down, deleted it, and all that took an hour. When I think that I'd have to pay some high-flying IT exec way more than £90 to do a job like that, it blows my actual mind. Stuff like this is why it's pric

The Internet - Digital data is "weighed" by electrons' energy state while being free or trapped - 0s & 1s. Dr. Kubiatowicz at UC Berkeley estimated 4GB as "weighing" 1 attogram. Extrapolating this, the internet "weighs" <1 milligram. ...WHICH IF YOU'RE A DIGIMON IS ENOUGH TO BLOB THE FUCK OUT!!!!!

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service.
