@gruber if you’re going to the Apple Home event, ask somebody when “Read & Speak” accessibility (formerly “Spoken Content”) will work with a HomePod. Currently AirPlay doesn’t forward that audio (without silly tricks like screen sharing to Apple TV that itself AirPlays to a HomePod) but any generic Bluetooth speaker/headphone does get that audio.

While the HomeView home hub will be the headline device, Apple's "Welcome Home" event will finally debut the new Apple TV set-top box, and a refreshed HomePod mini.

TIL you can jailbreak echo devices and run LineageOS on them and use them for voice commands to Home Assistant. That makes sense, they’re just android ARM devices running FireOS. I wonder if it fixes the screen blipping on Show devices?

Did a bit more typing on Retrospecs today. Whilst it still needs another pass to tidy things up, it’s actually starting to feel quite nice. So… that’s only taken twelve years 🤔 Anyhow, here’s a quick preview of the Converter as it currently stands… youtube.com/shorts/OsH0p...

Current setup: iPad with Ethernet cable going all across the house into the router, which is also connected all across the house to the PC. It works great! Cable nightmare. And my iPad is low on power so I had to take the Ethernet out to charge it 😎😭

  8. Cue is finally on the App Store 🎉 After a longer review than expected, it launched on Thursday! I built Cue as a native iPhone & iPad media player, with a focus on offline downloads. It currently supports Jellyfin, with more servers planned. apps.apple.com/us/app/cue-... #jellyfin #iosdev

Feature I built almost as an afterthought: Live Snippets in Remote Mouse Pro. Small clipboard library on your phone - save lines you retype constantly, paste any into your PC with a tap. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codebage.remotemousepro&hl=en #indiedev

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
