well it took a lot longer than I had anticipated. I wasn't aware of the failings of a T2 Mac with Tahoe installed. Online forums and slop blogs were of no help. But I did finally manage to get a #Linux distro installed. For anyone needing any advice on this, 1: find the T2 linux community. They have distros available that work. a straight install isn't going to work and their instructions, while not the greatest, are light years better than other online guides.

Researchers have released AnyPwn, a working proof-of-concept targeting AnyDesk for Linux 8.0.2. Under specific memory conditions, it can run commands with root privileges without connection approval; otherwise, the service crashes. The published code works on direct TCP connections to port 7070. Researchers demonstrated that the vulnerable point could be reached via an AnyDesk relay, but did not show a complete attack that way.… en.hacks.gr/to-anypwn-deichnei… #AnyDesk #AnyPwn #Linux #RemoteAccess

Linux users, could you please try the following Python statements on your distro and post the result here? I already tried TuxedoOS and CachyOS, both with Plasma, with the result as shown in the screenshot below, but in Mint (Cinnamon) it seems that this object doesn't have the Introspect() method 🤔 >>> import dbus >>> n = dbus.SessionBus().get_object('org.freedesktop.Notifications', 'org/freedesktop/Notifications') >>> 'Notify' in n.Introspect() #linux #python

AnyDesk Linux 8.0.2 is affected by AnyPwn, a flaw that could let a remote attacker run commands as root without authentication or user approval. AnyDesk 8.0.3 fixes it. Published exploit code targets 8.0.2 running as a service on x86_64 and connects directly to TCP port 7070. The source identifies direct exposure of that port as the confirmed risk. Success is not guaranteed; an attempt may crash the service. The code does not… en.hacks.gr/sovaro-provlima-st… #AnyDesk #Linux #RemoteAccess #RootAccess

I’m really turning into an annoying linux person because I’ve been daily driving the thing for a month and I have no complaints whatsoever, and I used to be the world’s biggest linux hater

linux is really great if you want the experience of hacking into your own personal computer

Linux isn’t even that hard to use necessarily. I mean yeah some distros like Arch or Gentoo are more advanced, but there’s tons of user-friendly distros like Fedora, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Zorin OS, Elementary OS, Pop! OS, etc.
I'm sure I'll get bored with it eventually, but for now, #DesktopCube for #Gnome is a delight. #Linux #FOSS #FLOSS #OpenSource #Computers #tech #technology

I feel a lot people who say this don't understand that while yes Linux has more control. The fact the market of Linux is so spread out between versions, the majority of which require specific patches or updates to get things working constantly and the best versions are Windows clones visually...

Two questions for Linuxheads out there… Can Discord on Linux stream image and sound from your PC in a channel now? Are there any good, robust publisher apps available on Linux?

I do think people need to at least look into Linux, like you don't have to switch right off the bat, just watch a stupid hour video basics. I'm still not on Linux because of money and no free empty computer to work with. But I am learning to work on transferring.

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
