"Deterministic process control, not statistical." not the fuck if it's AI, no do any of these weirdos even have the slightest idea what generative AI does?

1/ @KyleOrl: “AI coding agents generate more code, but not more software” arstechnica.com/ai/2026/10/ai-… Quote: Any efficiency increased during the actual coding phase, the study authors find, is “absorbed by downstream constraints in the production process”; as “the code review process significantly increases in length, pull requests are more likely to require revisions, and reviewers leave more comments.”

  3. this isn’t really about the models imo. they are intuiting the volume of destruction that they are projecting out into the world and the general population’s desire to inflict violence upon them in return

Not the point I know, sorry, but, this is why I've long been jaded about sweet baby hacker networks and the like cuz if anyone wanted real lasting change, they'd work to remove the economic factors that keep us from organizing. Keeping us buried in debt and overworked is one way they keep control

  5. The #AI #Autocrat How Technology Empowers—and Imperils— #Dictators This is AI’s promise to every autocratic ruler: the ability to maintain control without delegating tasks to unreliable humans. It is an extremely attractive prospect. No matter how powerful, dictators have always needed subordinates—censors, propagandists, security guards, police officers, intelligence analysts, and local bureaucrats—to carry out their orders. Now they have AI. foreignaffairs.com/united-stat…

Chinese Room Consider a program which receives and outputs Chinese characters so perfectly that humans cannot distinguish it from a Chinese-speaking person. Now assume you are in a room, receiving Chinese characters slipped under the door. You follow an English version of the computer program step-by-step, which instructs you to return output Chinese characters. You would not understand the conversation: similarly, the computer is not capable of understanding. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_… #ai

A friend of mine also talks a lot of shit to his AI. It creates no problems whatsoever - at least for now. To me, being polite is like Pascal's wager - only it's not about the existence of god, but about the existence of vengeful AI.

as others have noted, a computer program doesn't have agency. the people who programmed it, who supervised it did this. they are responsible. they should be prosecuted.

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
