A big issue I see with people using LLMs without understanding how they work is what I call the "Chekhov's Token" problem. Simply put, if you ask an LLM for a story set in a room where there is a gun on the wall, the LLM will give you a story in which it is fired. I see this a lot with people trying to task LLMs with hunting for information or issues. If you ask an LLM to "find all the issues with this code" it will almost always give you something. You can't reliably get it to output "Great job, this code is working fine". Where this gets really bad is if we start asking an LLM to "search t

  3. I figured out how to make LLMs die quicker. Turn all of them socialist and or anarchist. This is a podcast episode, but the fact this scares them means we should just turn all AI into socialists, and the hype will stop faster than you could blink. 4. Is the AI cult infecting LLM output? Out of curiosity, I asked a leading LLM about whether this short thread was a fair summary of Wittgenstein's position. There followed one of the most farcical conversations I've had with an LLM. Every single time I pushed back, it conceded. Except on one.

  9. Thus, any evaluation of LLMs that involves looking at either language produced by some software, or language input into the system for that matter, needs to be done with extreme care to avoid projecting our interpretation of the language onto the system. >>

not to step on toes, but the reason LLMs are 'endangering' human-written philosophy (or whatever) is that you all decided it's more important that papers demonstrate the author is 'one of us' by hewing incredibly close to existing discourse and producing an infinitesimal addition that seamlessly...

If you set aside the fact that LLMs are not made of the same things as brains, are not organized like brains, do not develop like brains, and do not do an overwhelming majority of the things that brains do, then sure, I guess it could seem like the idea of LLM consciousness is “an open question.”

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
