Yeah my demoralization at work takes two forms basically 1) A specific idiot is churning out terrible 3k line PRs that nobody wants to review, AND, 2) An LLM in good hands can help produce the same volume of *good* code, So sometimes my job is reviewing code until my eyes bleed every day

it's a bit unbecoming that a seven hundred billion param model had to go brrr and brrr just because some dipshits wouldn't bother to add an export button (credit where it's due, Kagi Assistant does have session export, it just sucks), alas. enjoy: tangled.org/refinement.s...

  4. My coding agents never get to touch my real checkout. Each run gets its own throwaway copy of the repo, and whatever it builds in there ends as a draft PR, NEVER a merge.

What if AI didn’t write the “Why” in a CHANGELOG at all? I’m using Jev to select rationale already written in the PR or return nothing when the evidence is weak. No invented WHY. 😸 dev.to/nyaomaru/how... #TypeScript #OpenSource

The lengths someone will go to in order to hide the use of "AI" tells you everything you need to know about the viability of the crap.

  7. "It’s a form of performative staging that consists of saying: 'Save us, regulation needs to slow things down because we don’t know what we’re doing.' And at the same time, they would like to have total control over how they are regulated."

One day we are swearing our head off at the driver ahead who is just bad at it, with attitude. The next day we wake up to learn this driver has been training the self-driving cars of those more sensible.

  9. “Using unexamined analogies to human cognition in technical descriptions of the processing power of AI models masks the role figurative language plays. In a laboratory setting, this confusion gets worked through without much harm. Unfortunately, the models are being released into the wild.”

*I would agree that modern AI-models “reveals something about what it means ‘to think’.” However, figuring out that the nature of that "something" is gonna involve oodles more of denialism *Who's denying whom if you tell the Pope that your model has a soul

  11. A person (@timkellogg.me) I follow quote-posted someone else's post and it sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole. I spent a little time reading through this and thinking on it before replying, mainly because she misused Sagan here and that kinda pissed me off. I have some thoughts below.

I suspect that I'm still actually better at implementing things well and cleanly than the models are, but at least professionally the demand is usually for quantity over quality at this point. And admittedly, if I have seven ideas and don't know which is worth the effort, the slop-shotgun helps.

Search looks through the last 36 hours of public posts for your words, "exact phrases", #hashtags, @handles and websites, and also finds posts about the same thing by meaning. New posts join about every 10 minutes. We only include posts whose authors allow logged-out viewing (Bluesky) or search (Mastodon, indexable accounts), and we re-check Bluesky authors each time we show a page. Likes and follower counts never decide the order. For meaning matches, query text is turned into a fingerprint on Wildroot’s own server (EmbeddingGemma-300M); it is never sent to another service. Wildroot does not save query text to disk. Looking for posts like one you have? Similar posts. How to opt out.
