The local Coles will mark their equivalent product down by 17 cents.

In general, when I look at the parsimonious and stingy cents reduction of the Coles markdowns, I wonder why they bother.

Is this corporate policy, individual manager, individual worker printing the new stickers, or what determining the price reductions?

The “Honey Badger don’t care” stock market: why and how twenty “AI” stocks and only…

The “Honey Badger don’t care” stock market: why and how twenty “AI” stocks and only twenty “AI” stocks shrug off the big shock of rising interest rates in our weird two-speed stock market:

Chick-fil-A has built a reputation on paying well and using people to interact with customers from end to end. Here in Atlanta, they seem to move many more cars through the drive thru with multiple actual live people working than the traditional fast food units with automation. So I'm sure their costs are higher; but either their margin is similarly higher or the goodwill of this makes up for it in volume - or both. No matter what you think of the owners, the business itself is impressive.

Barclays has opened two new branches in recent weeks (the first new beaches for over a decade) & some other banks continue to slowly expand their branch networks (Nationwide).

It will take a long time to truly reverse the long program of closures, but it seems some in retail banking have now concluded branches *did* have some value; slowly bank branches may return (in addition to the multi-bank banking hubs).
